Lenovo Thinkpad X12 Detachable
Putting the Microsoft Surface Pro on notice
Reasons to avoid
Business laptops are a dime a dozen, but once in a while, you get one thats just a little more special than the others. As far as such portables go, the Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable is a more versatile option. It boasts a detachable, portfolio-style keyboard that allows its users to seamlessly go from full traditional laptop to that more convenient tablet mode in seconds, minus the bulk. Dont worry, though. As it is still a business laptop, it still boasts a host of excellent business-centric features, like robust security features that matter a lot to business customers and surprisingly long battery life of around 10 hours per full charge .
Of course, theres plenty of power behind all that as well, with 11th-gen Intel Core chips and Intels integrated graphics. Although if youre looking for a business laptop with more robust graphics, you should consider other options as theres no way to configure it with discrete graphics.;

Hp Elitebook X360 1040 G7
The best HP business laptop
Reasons to avoid
HP’s EliteBook x360 1040 G7 is among the best business laptops money can buy. This stunning laptop has a gorgeous chassis that flaunts a flexible hinge, allowing the x360 1040 G7 to convert from a laptop into a tablet.
It’s one of a few rare notebooks that seemingly has no downsides. Along with that stylus chassis, you get a bright and vivid 14-inch display. But the EliteBook x360 1040 G7’s greatness doesn’t stop there. The laptop also has a surprisingly comfortable keyboard, fast performance and a host of security features, including an IR camera, a fingerprint sensor and MIL-SPEC-810 rated durability.;The 10th Gen Intel CPUs, while lacking graphical oomph, are powerful, and the battery lasts for longer than 11 hours on a charge.;
For these reasons, the EliteBook x360 1040 is the best HP laptop for business users.;

The Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 15 sports the world’s first QLED display, which means you’ll get to feast your eyes on a color-rich, super-bright screen — and you won’t have to sacrifice too much battery power to get it. In fact, when we tested the gorgeous royal-blue Flex 15 in our lab, the laptop gave us a whopping 15 hours of battery life. Ah, we no longer have to imagine a world where we can spend all day on our 2-in-1 without having to worry about battery life; Samsung’s made it possible.

How We Test The Best Touchscreen Laptops
When testing the best touch screen laptops in our lab, we focus on the display. First, we experiment with the screen’s responsiveness. Not-so-great touch screen laptops may lag or fail to keep up with our gestures. The best touch screen laptops can handle all our touch gestures, such as pinch-to-zoom and finger scrolling, without any hiccups.
We also look for crispness and high definition when it comes to our touch screen displays. What fun is it to have a touch screen if the display isn’t visually appealing? We test the display’s sRGB gamut coverage as well as its brightness. We also test the color accuracy by observing its Delta-E score. We also test for display’s graphics capability with industry benchmarks.
If the laptop comes equipped with a stylus, we channel our inner artist and we test how well the pen can keep up with our strokes on popular drawing software. ;
Aside from the display, we also test for battery life, overall performance, multitasking muscle and more. This way, you can choose a touchscreen laptop that best fits your lifestyle.

Diane Likes These Other Aspects Of The 2
- Responsive and precise touchscreen. In tablet mode, the convertible is useful for lighter work from any location, like browsing, lookups, reviewing email and documents, file management, and working in Word, Excel, and our CRM. Although I still find the keyboard essential for most of my work.
- In keyboard mode, heavy work can be done with the convertible. Im more inclined to use the keyboard in a desk setting.
- Boots up quickly, usuallymore on that later.
So Whats The Point Of A 2
As weve already outlined, the main point of buying a 2-in-1 is so you can save money by not having to buy a separate laptop and tablet. Obviously, this is a major boon if you need, or think you want, a tablet.
If youre not bothered about having a tablet, and dont think you will ever really use it much, then a convertible notebook is obviously a bit of a non-starter. For the same money, youll be able to purchase a more powerful standard notebook. This is because, generally speaking, youll almost certainly pay a premium for the extra tricks and flexibility provided by a 2-in-1 compared to a standard laptop.
However, if you think that youll use a tablet in some limited circumstances, its quite possibly still a good idea to plump for a convertible to give you that option. You might not pay that much more than a similarly-specified traditional laptop, and you may find you gain a lot more flexibility than you imagined, as well discuss next.

All Those Pros Aside Touchscreens In General Have Some Cons To Consider
Leigh: Typing on a screen keyboard is not at all ergonomic. Many people find typing on the screen at full keystroke speed awkward, even if the device is flat on a surface.
Another issue is screen size. To keep the weight down on all these devices, screen sizes are limited. There is not currently a 15 tablet available on the market, which is a standard laptop size.
Other negatives to consider:
- A touchscreen adds weight to a laptop. The 14 touchscreen laptop in the office weighs 3.5 pounds, a half-pound more than my 14 laptop without a touchscreen.
- A touchscreen can add $300 or more to the price of a laptop.
- Touch sensitivity can be problematic, especially if apps are poorly developed.
- Screens crack, more often than youd think, so make sure you get a warranty.
Tech Specs: What To Look For In A 2
The rest of the specs for convertibles and detachable hybrids generally follow the same lines as more standard laptops and Windows 10 tablets, which means you’ll have to pay more if you want additional speed, fancier features, or a thinner, flashier design.
For example, a system with a fanless Intel Core i3 or Core i5 processor is likely to have excellent battery life and a very thin body. These chips are generally what you will find in detachables. That said, you should expect that these systems will be somewhat less powerful than comparably sized laptops or convertible 2-in-1s, as these low-power mobile processors are designed for cool, quiet operation more so than for blazing speed.
In contrast, a non-detachable 2-in-1 system is more likely to use a more powerful Intel Core i5 or Core i7 with a cooling fan and perhaps even a discrete graphics processor. It will likely be a thicker device, but you’ll have more power to do more-demanding media-creation work or heavy multitasking in the field. As with anything else when computer shopping, it’s all a game of trade-offs and compromises, and we’re here to help you decide which one is for you.

Detachable Tablets: Two Devices In One
A detachable-tablet 2-in-1 is essentially a slate with a keyboard case or a keyboard dock. The dock option is a bit more stable than the keyboard case, but the general idea is the same: You can remove the keyboard portion of the tablet and leave it behind when you desire maximum portability. Microsoft’s various Surface detachables are the vanguard models of this kind.
Windows 10 slate tablets tend to weigh less than 2 pounds on their own, and adding the keyboard case or dock can double the system’s total weight. A tablet with a well-designed keyboard dock attached is functionally indistinguishable from a clamshell laptop, and some detachable docks contain extra battery cells that can greatly extend the amount of time you’re able to work off-plug. Simpler keyboard cases usually lack niceties such as extra battery cells or USB ports, and most will be noticeably physically flexible. But if a keyboard is just an occasional need for you, chances are you won’t mind that much.
The benefit of the keyboard case is that it is thinner and lighter overall than the usual lower half of a laptop or convertible. Detachable-hybrid tablets, however, tend to be top-heavy, because all of the system’s components and batteries, and hence their weight, are necessarily localized in the screen. You’ll want to examine your usage patterns to determine whether holding the PC in your hands and interacting with the touch screen is really right for you.
Delcorians Debate So You Can Decide
Desktops and conventional laptops no longer rule the business world. In the last few years, weve seen three alternatives make headway in the traditional laptop market.
- Laptop with touchscreenthe keyboard is attached like a regular laptop but the screen is enabled for touch.
- 2-in-1 convertible laptopthe detachable or hinged keyboard is inactive when its in tablet mode.
- Surface tabletMicrosofts iPad competitor, designed to replace your laptop.

Are Touchscreen Laptops Good For Drawing
This is a very model-specific question! Some touchscreen laptops are horrible for drawing, while others are actually very good at it. Look for a 2-in-1 model thats stylus compatible with something like the Surface Pen . Then look carefully at reviews and see if people find that the laptop model is good for sketching and drawing. If the display isnt able to lay completely flat, its probably not a good choice as a drawing surface.

The latest Inspiron 14 7000 is a compromise between a budget laptop;and updated tech that will last you years into the future, a good buy for those who want a focus on affordability while making sure they get their moneys worth.

You get an 11th-gen Intel Core i7-1115G4 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB PCIe NVMe SSD for storage on the base model. Hp Envy X360 13 The Best Mid
If you only have around $800 to spend on a compact 2-in-1 convertible, but dont want to compromise on the build quality, screen, and especially the performance and battery life, this HP Envy x360 built on the amazing AMD Ryzen 4000 hardware platform is the one for you.
This is a step-down in terms of design and features from the Spectre x360, but a step-up in performance and efficiency with the AMD hardware. In fact, Ryzen is a major chnage from the Intel platforms in terms of performance in mobile chassis, and this article covers a larger selection of Ryzen ultrabooks. The Envy x360 is one of the very few hybrids, though, with a 13.3-inch convertible touchscreen, and is a balanced implementation that properly juggles with the power, thermals, and noise, and will smoothly handle daily use and occasional demanding loads.
Furthermore, the Envy x360 doesnt compromise on the typing experience or clickpad either, includes a finger-sensor and a fair-selection of ports. It comes with a barrel-plug charger, but it can also charge via USB-C.
Overall, the HP Envy x360 is a versatile compact all-rounder, more powerful and more affordable than the premium 2-in-1s mentioned earlier, with only some minor compromises. Follow the link below for more details and updated configurations and prices.
Microsoft Surface Pro 7+
The best business 2-in-1 laptop
Reasons to avoid
The;Surface Pro 7+;takes the Surface Pro 7 and makes it for business users by adding 11th Gen Intel CPUs, 4G LTE connectivity and an easily swappable SSD. The battery life gets a small upgrade and the new processor provides outstanding performance in our synthetic and real-world testing.;
The design hasn’t changed at all, but the Surface Pro 7+ has a USB-C port for charging and connecting peripherals. Microsoft still sells the comfortable Alcantara-clad Type Cover and the super-responsive Surface Pen, which makes it easy to draw or take notes on this tablet’s vivid and bright 12.3-inch display.
There is still room for improvement. For example, the Surface Pro 7+’s display bezels are chunky, storage/RAM upgrades are inexplicably expensive, and there is no Thunderbolt 3 port. Still, this is one of the best 2-in-1 devices around, and an excellent choice if you’re traveling.;Not sold on the Surface Pro 7+? See our review of the ThinkPad X12 Detachable.;
Reasons to avoid
It’s by far the cheapest 2-in-1 device on this list, and easily the best value you can find. The Chromebook Duet has a 10.1-inch display and comes with a detachable keyboard. Yep, that’s right, the Duet, unlike the Surface or iPad, comes with a keyboard. Why is that so incredible? Because it costs just $299 and we’ve seen it for as low as $249.;

Microsoft Surface Go 2
Why you should;buy this: This 2-in-1 is an easy, durable choice when youre always on the move.
Who its for: Students and professionals who dont need to get a Surface Pro.
Why we picked the Microsoft Surface Go 2:
The Go 2 improves on the affordable 2-in-1 in several ways, notably with a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen that improved its screen resolution to HD and enhanced the battery life to 10 hours. At only 1.2 pounds, its the lightest option on our list, too, ideal for carrying around with you throughout the day and one of the best laptops for college students.
You can choose up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage, but we like the lower specs that keep the price down. At the base level, its the most affordable Surface device Microsoft offers, and well within a wider range of budgets. Perfect for those who dont need or cant justify buying a Surface Pro. You will need to buy the optional typer cover to give this 2-in-1 full laptop functionality, however.
We love that this the Microsoft Surface Go 2 comes equipped with a USB-C connection for the latest, fastest data connections, although theres also a Surface Connect port and a microSDX card reader.
