How to Easily replace Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series laptop Battery

The Inspiron stays cool under pressure, keeping under our 95-degree Fahrenheit comfort threshold. After the Inspiron streamed 15 minutes of HD video from YouTube, our heat gun measured 81 degrees Fahrenheit on the touchpad, 94 degrees between the G and H keys, and 90.5 degrees on the laptop’s bottom.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Processor Performance Review

The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 features an 11th gen Intel laptop that offers three options ranging from Core i3, i5, and i7. It is worth noting that this review is based on the components of the Core i7 option.

The Intel Core i7-1165G7 has a base frequency of 1.30 GHz and a maximum frequency of 4.70 GHz. This core i7 processor is 4 cores and features a 12 MB cache.

Other processor options are Intel Core i3-1115G4 with a 1 GHz base frequency and 4.10 GHz maximum frequency. Intel Core i3-1115G4 is a 2core processor with a 6 MB Cache.

Also, the Intel Core i5-1135G7 has a base frequency of 1 GHz and 4.20 GHz maximum frequency. Unlike the i3 processor, this i5 processor has 4 cores it has an 8 MB Cache.

Comparatively, the Core i7 variant of Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is the powerhouse of all three variants. It provides 3x more processing performance than the Core i3 while the Core i5 performs at an intermediate level.

To test the CPU performance of Dell Inspiron 15 5000, I carried out a Cinebench R20 test. On a single-core test, the laptop produced a result of 567.

On the same Cinebench R20 test, the laptop scored as high as 2239 on a multi-core test.

A single-core processor is an aspect of the CPU that uses only one core in running less demanding tasks like data entry. While a multi-core processor uses all the cores in a CPU to carry out more demanding tasks like gaming and video editing.

Consequently, Dell Inspiron 15 5000 has a great test score for a mid-range performance laptop.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Pricing

The Inspiron we tested cost $549 and came with an Intel Core i5-8250U, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB, 5,400-rpm HDD.

For $649, you can keep the same specs but update the display to a touch screen or swap out the hard drive with a 256GB SSD. At $749, you move to an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, but no touch screen.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Design Dimensions And Weight Review

Dell 15.6" Inspiron 15 5000 Series 5570 Laptop

The design of the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is the most impressive feature of the laptop. It has a thin build aluminum chassis with a smooth texture.

More precisely, its an all-aluminum build except for the bezels which are made with premium plastic.

Additionally, the hinges are a very functional piece of this Dell model. Dell seems to have adopted the ErgoLift feature mostly known for ASUS ZenBook.

On opening the lid of the laptop, this ErgoLift hinge lifts the keyboard to a 3-degree angle. This feature aims to provide convenience for your palms when typing on this laptop.

Moreover, this increases circulation and cooling when the laptop is being used on a hard surface.

Surprisingly, the hinges of this laptop do not have an aluminum finish. They have a hard rubber covering that aims to protect the laptop from scratches while maintaining its premium look.

Interestingly, the hinges are so stiff that youll need both hands to open the laptops lid. It seems the stiffness and rubber covering of the hinges is Dells intention for durability.

So far, it appears that Dell is very intentional in making this model a durable and convenient laptop for the end-user.

Also on the laptops design, you will see the Dell logo smoothly engraved on the lid when the laptop is closed. On opening the lid, you will see the same logo at the lower part of the bezel.

Meanwhile, when you turn over the laptop, the engraved Inspiron logo is located at the back, just above the cooling fan

The Good The Bad And The Ugly

The good: Weight is reasonable. Still working after 4 years. 2 USB3 ports. With numeric keypad. They are not as bad as many people claim. Performance is okay but only because I added another 8GB of RAM. 1TB harddisk is good. Price was okay because I purchased during a sale.

The bad:The power supply doesn’t get recognised way too often which prevents it from charging. The 4.5mm plug is so cheaply made that the additional wire, needed to detect if it is an original Dell power supply, breaks inside the fairly soft plug. I had now 3 power supplie…

Purchased Dell Inspiron 5593 February 2020. Great specifications and quite a reasonable price for those specs. Only lasted to June 2020 when after a Windows 10 upgrade the machine refused to charge using the supplied Dell 240 volt charger. Lots of online suggestions about needing to discharge the machine including taking out the battery etc. The battery is not user accessible as screws would have to be removed from the case to access the battery withing the internal parts of the machine. Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series 156 Laptop Wrap Up

Having 8GB of RAM is still standard, and despite using an integrated GPU, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series 15.6 Laptop is still a competent gaming laptop. Its thin, lightweight, and portable. And the 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor is a step in the right direction if you need to multitask. All in all a good budget option.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Audio

The speakers on the Inspiron are plenty loud and easily filled up a small conference room when I listened to Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap.” The song’s vocals and drums were clear, though an underlying bass line didn’t stand out from the rest of the mix. The preinstalled Waves MaxxAudio Pro has a bunch of preset equalizers and some dials to adjust the music, but I found that the default options were the best.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Battery Life & Performance Review

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series 2 in 1 Laptop Review

The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 battery is a 4-cell 40 WHr Lithium-ion battery type.

To determine the estimated battery life, I conducted a video playback test. In this test, I started watching Season 1, Episode 1 of Mr. Queen on Netflix using a Wi-Fi connection.

At the point of starting the show, the laptop was fully charged at 100%. The Dell power manager also indicated a battery life estimate of 7 hours 30 minutes.

To get the most out of the laptop, I reduced the display and volume to 50%. I also turned off the location and Bluetooth.

At the end of this video playback test, the battery lasted a total of 7 hours 50 minutes. Specifically, the test lasted till the 7th episode of the show.

Apparently, Dell cares about long-lasting batteries for the end-user by providing the battery maintenance feature. However, a higher-performing battery would have been the icing on the cake.

It is a pattern that Dell comes with some of its very own pre-installed software. Dell Power Manager is one of that software.

This pre-installed software serves as the battery power manager for the Dell Inspiron 15 5000. Furthermore, it includes great battery management features.

Some of these features include battery health status, charge status, and battery settings.

More importantly, you get the most out of this software in the battery settings. This feature lets you decide the best cooling method, battery duration, fast charge, and alert settings.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Design

Dell’s 15.6-inch, midrange notebook is a bland, chunky block. It has long been the case that the Inspiron lineup lacks any sort of aesthetic muse, and the Inspiron 15 5000 follows this trend. It’s a plastic, silver slab bearing Dell’s logo in a mirror sheen.

Lifting the lid reveals the 15.6-inch, 1080p screen surrounded by an almost offensively thick bezel and a plastic deck with a faux brushed-metal look. There’s a fingerprint reader on the power button, and the keyboard is a black collection of island-style keys.

At 4.9 pounds and 15 x 10.2 x 0.9 inches, the Inspiron 15 5000 is just a bit slimmer than the Acer Aspire E 15 E5-576G-5762, which is the same weight, width and height but measures 1.2 inches thick.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Review: My Final Thoughts

Overall, Dell seems to have focused squarely on the body build and processor performance of this laptop. As expected, Dell was intentional about making Inspiron 15 5000 better than its previous model.

The appealing design, lightweight, good performance, are some features that make this laptop desirable. Regardless, it also comes with flaws such as no thunderbolt slot and a MicroSD reader

As of August 2021 when I published this article, Dell Inspiron 15 5000 had a starting price of $751. Also, note that this price will vary depending on the Intel Core type you intend to purchase.

Furthermore, the Core i7 processor of this laptop is ideal for game lovers, photo and video editors. This processor provides more performance than the i3 which is ideal for daily office use.

In the same light, the Core i5 provides more horsepower than Core i3. The Core i5 performs averagely for few graphics experience and while using the internet.

Overall, Dell Inspiron 15 5000 has some excellent features and specs suitable for a wide range of users.

Check out what Dell’s Inspiron lineup holds.

While Dell makes many laptops, choosing the right one can be a little bit of a minefield. The company has so many different models and product lines that it’s easy to get lost among names and numbers.

Once you know what you’re looking for, though, it’s not as bad as it first seems. Inspiron is Dell’s mass-market brand, where you find the most choice for most consumers, and it’s also the one with the most variation.

Cooling And Noise Emission

The laptops fans make themselves heard intermittently, going into overdrive when the laptop is forced to execute tasking programs. The noise does get irritating sometimes, and we found ourselves wishing for headphones to drown out the noise. Thankfully, upgrading to an SSD fixes this issue effectively.

Generally, the Inspiron remains cool under pressure, staying below our 95-degree Fahrenheit comfort level.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Graphics Card Performance Review

The GPU feature of the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is another highlight of this laptop. Like that of the processor, this laptop provides various GPU Card types and different interfaces to chose from.

More explicitly, the Intel Core i3 offers a dedicated GPU interface. On the other hand, the Intel Core i5 and i7 offer an integrated GPU interface.

An integrated video card is a GPU that is built into the CPU. This means that when you are running tasks, the GPU will share the system memory with the CPU.

The implication of sharing the system memory with the CPU is that the integrated video card performs video rendering slower than a dedicated GPU.

On the other hand, the dedicated GPU has its own dedicated memory. What this means is that since the graphics card has its own memory and does not share the system memory with the CPU, it performs graphics tasks faster.

Based on these explanations, if you are a gamer or works on graphics-intensive applications, it is better to get the laptop with its dedicated GPU option.

In terms of graphic card types, Dell provided the option of both worlds both an overperformer and an underperformed. The Core i3 option of Dell Inspiron 15 5000 has an NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphic card with 2 GB GDDR5.

In terms of performance, NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics offers high graphics overall performance. Also, you can play the latest demanding games at lower settings and resolutions.

Dell Inspiron 11 3000 2

If you need something for the kids, light work, or for utmost portability, the Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1 is a great choice.

Dell now also has a 17-inch laptop in the Inspiron 3000 range that is quite close to the 5000 series in many areas but keeps the costs down a little by making some sacrifices, such as in the build materials.

The tradeoff is that you might be left with a horrendously slow HDD, so you’ll need to spend a little extra getting an SSD inside it otherwise, all that power will be lost on terrible loading times and data transfer speeds.

Ultimately, if you want a great laptop but want to spend less, the 3000 series is for you. The most expensive models are now approaching the more expensive 5000 and 7000 range, but the vast majority of these laptops is extremely affordable.
