Liu Chuanzhi, along with a group of ten experienced engineers, officially founded Lenovo in Beijing on November 1, 1984, with 200,000 yuan. The Chinese government approved Lenovo’s incorporation on the same day. Jia Xufu , one of the founders of Lenovo, indicated that the first meeting in preparation for starting the company was held on October 17 the same year. Eleven people, the entirety of the initial staff, attended. Each of the founders was a member of the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences . The 200,000 yuan used as start-up capital was approved by Zeng Maochao . The name for the company agreed upon at this meeting was the Chinese Academy of Sciences Computer Technology Research Institute New Technology Development Company.
The organizational structure of the company was established in 1985 after the Chinese New Year. It included a technology, engineering, administrative, and office departments. The group first attempted to import televisions but failed. It rebuilt itself as a company doing quality checks on computers. It also tried and failed to market a digital watch. In 1990, Lenovo started to manufacture and market computers using its own brand name.
Some of the company’s early successes included the KT8920 mainframe computer. It also developed a circuit board that allowed IBM-compatible personal computers to process Chinese characters.

The 15.6in ThinkPad T510 was a premium product designed for corporate use, and far better made than the average laptop was back then, or is today. It appeared around the end of 2010, so the design is nine years old. Its premium features included a Firewire 400 port, which you probably dont use. The main problem is that its not on Lenovos Windows 10-compatible list. However, some people have managed to install the 1903 version, so you could download it and have a go. If it installs, your Windows 7 product code should authenticate it, so you wont have to pay for it. And if all else fails, you could install Linux.
Sadly, even if your ThinkPad T510 runs Windows 10, it has a lot of limitations. These include the screen resolution , slow USB 2 ports, the fairly slow drive speed , the lack of memory , and the slow CPU.
The T510 is, as mentioned, upgradeable. You have 6GB of memory so its probably not worth replacing a 2GB simm with a 4GB module to raise that to 8GB. However, it would be worth swapping the hard drive for a 250GB or 500GB SSD, costing $49.99 or $66.99 at Crucials US site. You may be able to find cheaper alternatives where you live in Mexico. So, I have spent almost the entire day looking online at customer service complaints, which if you’re looking at this you probably already know. Anyway, I have noticed a lot of them seem to be with the Yoga laptops. Yoga laptops look, feel, and perform really well, however, many people have had problems with them. Then, when they send them to Lenovo’s repair depot, Lenovo doesn’t have any parts in stock.
I noticed this from first-hand experience. My Lenovo Yoga 720 got bent in a car accident. When I sent it in to be repaired they didn’t have any parts they needed. Then once they had the parts they still haven’t worked on it. I have complained many times and now I have been told it was prioritized. I am also looking into seeing if they would send a replacement. It has been 3 weeks since Lenovo first got it. This whole process has been a huge problem all around.
Now, at first sight, the Yoga has everything. The one I bought has a decent dedicated;graphics card and it is still super thin and beautiful. However, the build quality is not very good, obviously, Lenovo didn’t put much effort into it because there are many people with problems out there. And you may just think “What if I just put an extended warranty on it?” You may think this is a good idea but when you go to use that warranty you will be sorry you ever bought it. It is the most frustrating;thing to deal with due to the incompetent customer service.
