After you locate your Mac, you can unlock it by entering the passcode that you created when you locked it with Find My.
If you can’t remember that passcode, you have three options:
- Sign in to iCloud.com/find, then select your Mac from the Devices menu. Select Unlock and follow the steps to verify your identity.
- Unlock your Mac from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch using your device passcode.
- Take your Mac to an Apple Authorized Service Provider along with your proof of purchase.

How To Find The Laptop Model On A Windows Pc
There are several ways to find your laptop model. Any method that gets you to your laptop model number and its configuration will help you ask for the right kind of support or get updated drivers and software. Brands print the laptop model numbers on the carton, etch them on the body, or mention it in any manual that comes with the computer. But if you cant find them there, there are other ways too.
Lets look at two of the simplest and quickest ways to locate the laptop model on your Windows computer. You can use the Command windows and PowerShell too, but they take slightly more effort than the two simple methods described below.

Locating Your Sony Model Number
Note: If this file is blank, look for a second file with the same name and open that file.
For laptops released between Fall 2000 and Spring 2009:
The model number is located on a small label located on the frame around the computer screen.
For laptop computers released before Summer 2000:
The computer information and compliance label, located on the bottom of the laptop case, indicates the actual model number.
Use The System Information App For Hardware And Software Environment Details
The System Information app has been included with Windows since before Windows XP. It provides a much more detailed look at system information than you can get just using the Settings app.
To open up System Information, hit Windows+R, type msinfo32 into the Open field, and then hit Enter.
The System Summary page you open up to already provides a lot more information than we saw in the Settings app. You can see details about your version of Windows and the manufacturer of your PC, along with hardware details like your BIOS version, motherboard model, installed RAM, and more.
But that only scratches the service. Expand the nodes on the left-hand side, and you can dive into a whole other level of detail. A lot of this information, like the stuff you see under the Hardware Resources node is fairly esoteric. But, you will find some real gems if you dig around a bit.
For example, click the Display component, and you can see the make and model of your graphics card, its driver version, and your current resolution.
Theres one other great feature to note about the System Information app. You can export a detailed system report as a text file. This can be useful if you need to send details about your system to someone else, or if you just want to have a copy around in case you need to troubleshoot a PC you cant boot.
Next, open the File menu and click the Export command.
Name the text file youll create, choose a location, and then click the Save button.

How To Check Laptop Model

S Using Data Outside Laptop
Check the Laptops Serial Number
Over 99% of people use pre-built laptops from Asus, HP, or other brands. There is a sticker printed on these laptops which displays the serial number. To get it, follow the steps:
- Turn over the laptop & look at the back.
- You will find a sticker pasted. If it is not there, look at the underside of the chassis.
- Note the serial number in notepad or somewhere else.
- Type it into Google or Bing using the below format:- . You will get the manufactures website and other important information including the manufacture date.
- If this doesnt work, copy it and send it to the manufacturing company and ask for the manufacture date through their website, social media platform, or phone. With that, the manufacturing company will process and send the manufacture date of your PC to you.

For Desktop: For a desktop computer, look at the back of the cabinet box of the computer.
Tip: Some manufacturing companies make the process of knowing your laptop age easier. There may include a sticker with the date of manufacture printed on it somewhere on the body of the laptop. Turn your laptop face-down and there you will find the sticker with the serial number and the manufacturing date. In many cases, the manufacturing date is not always written.

The native functions for both Windows and MacOS are fine if you want a quick way to track your laptop. However, they dont offer a lot of extra security features. If you want enhanced protection, additional software downloads are crucial. Youll also need to set up a complete tracking program. More thorough defenses are incredibly helpful in case of theft, but possibly overkill in terms of at-home devices. Regardless, we can recommend a couple of options you can use to get started.

Find A Missing Device
Now let’s say you’re stuck in a situation where your device is missing and you need to find out where it’s hiding. To track down your device, sign into your Microsoft account site and head to the Devices page. Here, you will see all the Windows devices connected to your account.
If Find My Device is on, you will see each device’s last recorded location. Dont worry if the page shows an older location and date for a device that information will be updated when you ping the device. If the missing device is turned on, simply click Find my device.
A page pops up showing you the date, address, and a map pinpointing the device’s location. Using your mouse wheel or trackpad or the Zoom buttons on the map, you can zoom in or out to see the location up close or get a wider bird’s-eye view. You can also pan the map with your mouse.
