How to make your PC Less Laggy

It is most likely that the CPU will be your bottleneck, but RAM may also be the issue. Use F3 to check the RAM usage in-game. Redstone circuits require a lot of calculations, as do flowing water and lava when it is changing the path if its flow. Those are the two things most often responsible for lag in Minecraft.

Operating System Isn’t Maintained Or Upgraded

If your operating system is not periodically maintained, properly configured or upgraded, there may be a number of programs and tools installed. As a result, your computer is lagging all of a sudden even if the computer is new or good.

How to stop lag on PC or how to fix a slow computer in Windows 10/8/7? Follow the methods below.

Way 1: Uninstall Unused Programs

When you purchase a new computer, it is likely that there are a load of programs pre-installed onto it. Over time, old PCs can simply accumulate these. However, most of those applications are not used ever, and even some can run in the background but you don’t notice them.

Even if your computer has plenty of memory, running many programs at once can slow the PC down in the process and cause computer lagging.

Therefore, it is necessary to individually close these programs or open Task Manager to see what’s currently running and end the processes from there.

Way 2: Clean Temporary Files

When using internet explorer, all the browsing history remains in the depths of your computer. In the same way, installing something or running the OS will generate some temporary files that are stored in the Windows Temp folder.

To free up space on the system to get rid of lag on PC, you can choose to delete those temporary files using Disk Cleanup.

Tip:

Step 1: Open My Computer or This PC and right-click on the system partition C to choose Properties.

Step 2: Under the General tab, click the Disk Cleanup button.

Tip:

Use Onedrive Files On

Some users may not want to stop OneDrive from syncing doing so defeats its purpose of making sure you have the latest files on whatever device you use. And it would also mean you wont be able to use OneDrive as a way to safely back up files.

But theres a way to get the best of both worlds: You can keep syncing to an absolute minimum and only do it when absolutely necessary. Youll speed up performance, and still get the best of what OneDrive has to offer.

To do this, you use Windows OneDrive Files on-Demand feature. With it, you can choose to keep only certain files on your PC, but still have access to all your other OneDrive files in the cloud. When you want to use one of those online files, you open it directly from the cloud. With fewer files on your PC sync, you should see a performance boost.

Right-click the OneDrive icon on the right side of the Taskbar and select Settings, then click the Settings tab on the dialog box that appears. Check the box next to Files On-Demand. Now click the OneDrive icon and select Open Folder. OneDrive appears in a File Explorer window. Right-click a folder whose files you want stored only in the cloud, but not on your PC, then select Free up space. Files from that folder will be removed from your disk, but still kept in OneDrive in the cloud.

Check For Low Disk Space And Free Up Space

You may improve performance if you free some disk space on your PC.

To check for low disk space

  • Select the Start button, then select Settings > System > Storage.

  • Your drives will be listed in the Storage area. Note the amount of free space and total size for each drive.

  • Note: If your PC is not low on space, try the next tip.

You can use Storage Sense to delete unnecessary or temporary files from your device, which can also free up space.

If you turn on Storage Sense, Windows will automatically free up space by getting rid of unnecessary filesincluding files in your recycle binwhen you’re low on disk space or at intervals you specify. The instructions below show you how to delete temporary files and how to turn on and configure Storage Sense.

If you can’t find Storage Sense on your device using the following steps, see the “Free up space with Disk cleanup” section below instead.

Note: You may not want to delete temporary files to improve performance. While these files may not be used at the moment, they help your apps load and run faster.

To delete temporary files with Storage Sense

  • Open Settings, then select System > Storage.Open Storage settings

  • Select Temporary files in the storage breakdown. Note: If you don’t see Temporary files listed, select Show more categories.

    Overclock Your Cpu Or Gpu

How to make a game less laggy

Overclocking your CPU or GPU makes them work faster and gives you more processing power. Though not as dangerous as it used to be, overclocking increases the stress and heat put on your PCs hardware. In most cases, your CPU or GPU will switch off when overstressed or overheated, and Windows will freeze before real damage occurs.

Overclocking is an advanced process that requires you to monitor your CPU temperature. Dont overclock your hardware unless you know what youre doing.

    Overclocking the CPU

Unless youre doing a lot of CPU-intensive tasks, such as multimedia editing or running lots of apps at the same time, you wont feel the difference of a CPU overclock. But if you want optimal performance, try Intels own Extreme Tuning Utility.

With this tool, you can easily adjust the CPU clock speed. Increase in increments of 50 MHz, and test your systems stability under various high-stress scenarios before increasing further.

    Overclocking the GPU

Usually, your graphics chip is what causes jittery or laggy gameplay. To improve performance, try overclocking your GPU to run it beyond factory settings. You can overclock your GPUs processing chip and memory speed with tools like MSI Afterburner.

On our own gaming PC with two Titan Xp graphics cards, after overclocking the GPU by 200 MHz and the memory by 500 MHz, gaming performance climbed by 15%, and we saw the best possible frame rate and picture quality on even the most demanding games.

Do Not Let Your Boot Drive Fill Up

Monitor the storage space of the main and do not wait until it is filled up. To run smoothly, your computer needs free space on drive Cthe drive that holds the Operating system.

If this space is 90 percent full, the system wont have enough space to create temporary files and has to constantly delete and recreate files, which takes time, and youll feel your system has become slower.

Always ensure that there are at least a few gigabytes of free space on the boot drive. Keep track of your apps and constantly uninstall anything unnecessary. This will ensure that there is always free space on this drive.

      Hard Drive/memory Maxed Out

3 Simple Ways: How to make your Computer Less Laggy Win7/8/10 ~Sharaf Tutorials #1

A hard drive that is at least 85% full can reduce the computers processing speed by up to 50%.

This is because, at this point, the virtual memory required for saving temporary files that facilitate the seamless running of programs is barely available. The drive space is mainly taken up by programs, updates to applications, downloads, files of deleted programs, and temporary files.

When it comes to RAM, the biggest culprits are programs that require a lot of memory to run. Such include graphic design software like Photoshop or other industry-specific applications.

Swap Out Your Hard Drive For An Ssd

If your laptop has a mechanical hard drive, then swapping it for a solid-state drive could pay dividends. As there are no moving parts, an SSD has read and write speeds far quicker than any traditional drive, as well as better reliability, and can revitalise an ailing system. If your laptop already uses an SSD, it might also be worth considering an upgrade to a faster SSD.

Over the past few years, SSD prices have gone down and capacities up, so putting one in your laptop won’t break the bank. However, as with RAM, many laptop hard drives wont be replaceable or will use specialised form-factors which prevent the use of third-party drives.

Assuming your laptop will support an upgrade, you can use a cloning tool to copy everything from your old disk to an SSD rather than reinstalling Windows from scratch. Numerous freeware tools can be used for this task, such as Todo Backup Free 9.0. Many SSD manufacturers will also include a license key for disk imaging tools with the purchase of a new drive.

How To Speed Up A Slow Running Computer Or Laptop

When your sytem begins to slow down, and unresponsiveness and long load times become the norm, whats the best way to speed up a computer? Fixing computer lag problems can seem like a daunting proposition, but its not. Our guide will show you how to fix a slow PC, with steps that can be done in minutes and instantly deliver lasting results.

We focus on Windows desktops in this article, but there are also ways of speeding up a Mac and laptop too.

Upgrade Computer Ram And Install A Fast Ssd

RAM is in charge of holding all the programs that you are actively using. It is known as a computers short-term memory. 4 GB RAM should be the minimum amount to run a computer for everyday use.

But if you are using your computer for gaming or other resource-intensive purposes like video editing or programming, you should consider increasing your RAM before your computers performance starts to suffer.

The good old hard disk is one of the limiting factors of your long-term computer memory.

When you open a program, the hard disk has to look for those files one byte at a time before transferring them to the RAM.

As such, it is expected that this method is not very efficient and can be painfully slow. Therefore, switching to SSD is advisable if you want your computer to work more efficiently.

Although your high-end computer most likely comes with an SSD, you should think about getting one if you dont have it.

An SSD is a digital successor to the hard disk with more spank and does the job more efficiently. In addition, it is faster by at least ten times.

So, your files will process and open much faster compared to the hard disk.
