Turn On High Performance Via The Power Slider
Windows assumes you want an energy-efficient computer. But you can trade electricity for speed. This tip depends upon whether your PC enables it: The so-called Windows power slider is nearly ubiquitous on laptops, less so on desktops. It puts the PC in a high-performance mode, which in a laptop means increased performance for gaming, sayat the expense of battery life.
Previously you had to use the Control Panel to do this, but now you can do it right from the Windows 10 Taskbar. Right-click the battery icon, and adjust the power/performance slider all the way to the right. Note: Windows considers your PC while plugged in, and when running on battery power, as two separate states. Youll typically need to adjust the power/performance slider while plugged in, and then adjust it again while unplugged and running on battery.
You can access the Windows 10 power/performance slider by clicking the battery icon in the taskbar.
While plugged in, theres really no penalty for pushing your PC into performance mode, though it will consume a bit more power and the fans may be louder.
Why Your Hp Laptop Is Slow
There are plenty of reasons why laptops are slow, but the main task is to find the exact reason why does this happens. If you knew the source of the problem then you already fix 50% of that problem.
Reasons behind HP laptops going slow:
Upgrade Your Hard Drive To An Ssd
SSDs generally have much faster read/write times than hard disk drives. Laptops that include SSDs will have less delays for opening software, transferring files, saving data, etc. Therefore, replacing your HP laptops HDD storage with an alternative solid-state drive will likely give it a speed boost.
Youll need to clone your current hard drive with cloning software for Windows 10 before replacing it. The cloning software will make a replica of your hard drives contents on the SSD. Note that youll also need a SATA to USB cable to connect the SSD with a laptop for cloning.
To replace the hard drive, you might need to remove the full bottom cover from your laptop. However, some laptops include separate removable panels for hard drives. Then youll need to remove the current HDD and add your alternative SSD in its place. Most users have probably never opened up their laptops before. So, it might be better for most users to pay reputable IT services to at least swamp out their laptops current hard drives with SSD alternatives.

Ensure Windows Isnt Clearing Your Page File At Shutdown
Windows uses a paging file, also known as a page file, as additional virtual memory. Windows has a hidden optiondisabled by defaultto clear the paging file at shutdown. This erases everything in the page file, ensuring no sensitive data is stored where someone could access it by removing the computers hard drive and examining the paging file.
Your computer may take several minutes to shut down while Windows erases the page file, if this option is enabled. How long it takes depends how large the page file is and how fast your hard drive is. However, you dont need this option if your hard drive is encrypted . The encryption will prevent an attacker from examining your page file while the computer is shut down.
If your computer is managed by an IT department, they may have enabled this option for a reason. In that case, theres not much you can do besides shrinking the size of the page file.
