Turn Down Graphics Settings
No one wants to go this route, but sometimes its necessary, especially if you have an integrated graphics chip instead of a dedicated graphics card.
Simply turning down the settings from ultra or high to medium or low will give you a noticeable performance boost on slower machines.
When your processor doesnt have to struggle so hard to render all the 3D images, youll get less lag overall. This can be the difference between victory and defeat when you need to quickly fire off a few rounds or take cover before the enemy notices your squad!
Use Onedrive Files On
Some users may not want to stop OneDrive from syncing; doing so defeats its purpose of making sure you have the latest files on whatever device you use. And it would also mean you wont be able to use OneDrive as a way to safely back up files.
But theres a way to get the best of both worlds: You can keep syncing to an absolute minimum and only do it when absolutely necessary. Youll speed up performance, and still get the best of what OneDrive has to offer.
To do this, you use Windows OneDrive Files on-Demand feature. With it, you can choose to keep only certain files on your PC, but still have access to all your other OneDrive files in the cloud. When you want to use one of those online files, you open it directly from the cloud. With fewer files on your PC sync, you should see a performance boost.
Right-click the OneDrive icon on the right side of the Taskbar and select Settings, then click the Settings tab on the dialog box that appears. Check the box next to Files On-Demand. Now click the OneDrive icon and select Open Folder. OneDrive appears in a File Explorer window. Right-click a folder whose files you want stored only in the cloud, but not on your PC, then select Free up space. Files from that folder will be removed from your disk, but still kept in OneDrive in the cloud.
Use this dialog box to turn on OneDrive Files on-Demand
Note that OneDrive Files on-Demand is available only on Windows Version 1709 and higher.
Keep Your Computer Tidy
As time goes by, almost every computer shows some speed degradation. The major reason for this slowdown is the accumulation of junk files and apps. To help your computer run faster, you should clean out temporary files, archive or delete unneeded documents, and uninstall the games you dont play anymore. Many dedicated apps do this maintenance for you, and Kaspersky Total Security and Kaspersky Security Cloud also perform cleanup functions.
With all of the steps above taken, your computer should be a failure-proof gaming rig and winning the game becomes a matter of tactics, training, and teamwork.

Operating System Isn’t Maintained Or Upgraded
If your operating system is not periodically maintained, properly configured or upgraded, there may be a number of programs and tools installed. As a result, your computer is lagging all of a sudden even if the computer is new or good.
How to stop lag on PC or how to fix a slow computer in Windows 10/8/7? Follow the methods below.
Way 1: Uninstall Unused Programs
When you purchase a new computer, it is likely that there are a load of programs pre-installed onto it. Over time, old PCs can simply accumulate these. However, most of those applications are not used ever, and even some can run in the background but you don’t notice them.
Even if your computer has plenty of memory, running many programs at once can slow the PC down in the process and cause computer lagging.
Therefore, it is necessary to individually close these programs or open Task Manager to see what’s currently running and end the processes from there.
Way 2: Clean Temporary Files
When using internet explorer, all the browsing history remains in the depths of your computer. In the same way, installing something or running the OS will generate some temporary files that are stored in the Windows;Temp;folder.
To free up space on the system to get rid of lag on PC, you can choose to delete those temporary files using Disk Cleanup.
Step 1: Open My Computer or This PC and right-click on the system partition C to choose Properties.
Step 2: Under the General tab, click the Disk Cleanup button.

However, these optimizations are situational and can actually make latency worse in some cases. We recommend testing on your own system and experimenting to find which modes help your particular configuration!

Stop Programs Running On Startup
Similar to programs running in the tray, other programs that automatically run on startup can slow down your computer. Some you may actually want to run, such as antivirus software, but others may be unnecessary.
Right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager or hit Ctrl-Shift-Escape to launch. Head to the Startup tab and youll be able to view each item that runs on startup, along with its impact.
Go through these and decide which ones dont need to start automatically. This process is especially beneficial to performance if you can disable some of the high impact ones. But note that some of these programs are vital for Windows to operate. For example, the ones with Microsoft listed as the publisher are probably best left alone. If you arent sure, either leave it, or try a Google search to find out more.
To disable, simply right-click and hit Disable. Remember, youre not disabling the program, just the fact that it runs on startup.
Windows 7: Instead of accessing Task Manager, youll need to search for System Configuration.
