Hp Envy X360 13 Performance
Packed inside this HP laptop is AMDs Ryzen 7 2700U chipset, running at 2GHz. This is supported by 8GB of DDR4 memory, for smooth everyday performance.
In our benchmark tests, the Envy didnt throw up any surprises. Results were comparable to other mid-range devices such as the Asus ZenBook UX430UA, although Acers Spin 5 had it beat. The Spin proved much stronger for multi-core performance, offering a Geekbench score of 13,180 compared with the x360s 7030.
That said, I found that this laptop handled quite intensive use without breaking much sweat. Even multi-tasking with several apps at once, including a Chrome browser session with a couple of dozen tabs open, didnt cause the Envy x360 to stutter or stumble. I could happily edit photos while listening to Spotify, messaging mates and browsing the web, flipping between the various windows without delay.
AMDs own Radeon Vega 10 graphics handles the visuals, tackling simple creative tasks and entry-level gaming without issue. You wont be able to play anything demanding, but I found that older titles such as Serious Sam and Skyrim were butter-smooth at higher detail settings.
You get 512GB of SSD storage space for your apps, games and the rest, and that solid state drive is reasonably nippy. Our tests churned out read speeds of 1327Mbps, along with write speeds of 696Mbps.

Hp Envy X360 13 Design And Build
One things for sure, the Envy x360 13 is designed for a life on the road. That aluminium chassis is perfectly compact, with a slender bezel surrounding the 13.3-inch display. At just 1.3kg, carrying it around is no burden either you can slip it into a decent-sized handbag and pretty much forget about it until needed.
Of course, if youre shoving a device in your bag and lugging it around all day, youll want a degree of durability too. Thankfully, the HP Envy x360 13 is no wuss. That lid is reassuringly firm to provide adequate protection for the display, while the rest of the chassis is just as solid. You can prod and squeeze the HP Envy x360 13 as much as you like, but youll only see the tiniest bit of flex.
HPs design work is both smart and attractive. The dark silver finish certainly looks neat, with some finer detailing to help it stand out from the crowd. From the patterned surfacing between the hinges to the mosaic speaker grille, the Envy is pleasingly distinctive quite a feat when many rivals seem content to continue with the same-old plain and boring look.
Of course, the x360 can also morph into a tablet, if you twist the screen all the way back. It isnt as light or convenient as an iPad, but this form is fine for enjoying a digital magazine or watching a movie while travelling. The dual hinges seem to be perfectly strong and reliable, while Windows automatically switches to its touch-orientated tablet mode when you flip the display around.
Amd’s Got What It Takes
No doubt about it, AMD’s newest mobile processors outperform pricier Intel CPUs. The Ryzen 5-4500U can keep pace with an Intel Core i7-1065G7 and it isn’t even the fastest AMD chip available for this two-in-one. There isn’t a huge gap in performance between the 4500U and higher-end 4700U, so if only one or the other is available you’ll be in good shape regardless. Aside from the processor, though, you might want to go with a configuration with 16GB of memory. The memory is soldered on and that means models with 8GB of memory can’t be upgraded.;
The Envy x360’s battery lasted a fairly long time. On our streaming video test, it hit 10 hours. In general use — streaming music, browsing, writing and basic photo editing — it was closer to 7 hours. However, it does charge quickly, getting up to 50% in 30 minutes.;
The HP Envy x360 13 is an excellent small two-in-one with a higher-end design than you’d typically get at this price — assuming you can find one in stock. Factor in the solid AMD performance and battery life and it’s an easy recommendation.
The trim 13.3-inch display gives you room to write and sketch in tablet mode without being too big.;

Hp Envy 13 Review: Design & Build Quality
The design of the Envy is textbook HP, so you get the familiar rather angular body with a slightly raised palm rest and engraved detailing on the lid. The sandblasted and anodised silver finish looks and feels very upmarket, too.
At 1.3kg, the all-aluminium Envy isnt the lightest notebook weve reviewed, but it does feel reassuringly solid and the lid is unusually rigid. Measuring 306 x 194 x 16.9mm, its pretty much bang on the money in terms of size and easily slides into even the dinkiest of backpacks.
Prod the keyboard and youll soon discover that theres rather more flex at the centre than expected considering how robust the rest of the unit feels. The layout feels rather cluttered as well, thanks to HPs decision to squeeze the power button and fingerprint scanner within the keyboard itself.
One victim of this clutter is the enter key, which is a small, narrow affair set above the larger return key. Apple uses the same layout on the MacBook Air and Im not a fan of it there, either. Lenovo and Acer both manage to fit a conventional double-height enter key to their ultra-compact notebooks. Another slight drawback is that the power button has been placed next to the delete key, which is very easy to hit by mistake.
Connectivity is well catered for, too, with one drop-jaw Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 1 port on each side as well as a 10Gbits/sec Type-C port on the left. This supports DisplayPort 1.4 output , which is just as well as theres no HDMI port.

Hp Envy X360 1: Display And Inking
The AMD-powered ENVY x360 15 comes with two configurable FHD touch display options; if you’re looking for 4K, you’ll have to move over to Intel hardware. My review unit has the higher-end FHD option with extra brightness of up to 400 nits as advertised. In testing, it hit just 300 nits at the peak, which is disappointing. The display’s finish is about as glossy as it gets, so glare is an issue if you’re working outdoors. I managed, but a shady spot delivers much better results. And if you go with the 250-nit display, expect more issues.
Color and contrast look great right out of the box, and indeed it comes calibrated from the factory with Delta E<2 color accuracy. Furthermore, testing with my Datacolor SpyderX Pro colorimeter revealed 100% sRGB, 76% AdobeRGB, and 79% DCI-P3 color reproduction. These are good results, and those handling some editing work should feel right at home. If you’re getting into truly specialized work, however, you’ll no doubt want something with higher AdobeRGB and DCI-P3 reproduction.
The display’s bezel is pleasantly thin, contributing to an 89% screen-to-body ratio. This is still a 16:9 aspect ratio , but there’s not much of a chin below. A 16:10 or 3:2 aspect ratio would be much better for a tablet, giving you less of a rectangle and more of a square when the lid is rotated around. The HP ENVY 14 moved to 16:10, so hopefully, the x360 models will at some point as well.

Hp Envy X360 Design And Build
The Envy x360s design looks slightly above its price point, with a decent-looking brushed aluminium coating and angular features.
The metal shell is free from flex, and the rubber pads on the base prevent the Envy from moving around when placed on a solid surface. Its 1.9cm thick, which makes it easy to throw into a laptop bag; but it isnt the lightest laptop, weighing just over 2kg.
In terms of connections, the Envy x360 houses one USB Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI connector, an SD card reader and a 3.5mm headset jack. The power button and volume rocker are located on the left of the device, making them easy to use in tablet mode.
The touchscreen display is held in place with a pair of hinges that rotate nearly 360 degrees, which enable the x360 to be used as a tablet or hybrid laptop. The issue here is that the hinge cant support the weight of that large 15.6-inch screen particularly well; the display can flop down into a lowered position when moved around.

In addition, the screen tends to wobble when pressing on the touchscreen, which is a problem for a device that places the screen front and centre.
The usefulness of the displays bend-ability is most stark when you just want to kick back with some Netflix in bed and try to rest the laptop, in tablet mode, on your knees. Tent mode is great for compact spaces such as trains and planes.
Hp Envy X360 15 Review: Ryzen 5 With Bad Performance Utilization
The Envy x360 15 represents a Windows convertible in the 15.6-inch format. While it has a very close resemblance to its predecessor, the build is not identical. The current model turns out slightly more compact, the connections are positioned in other places, and it has a different keyboard. The competitors include devices such as the Lenovo Yoga C740-15IML;and the;Asus ZenBook Flip 15 UX563FD.

Hp Envy X360 1: Performance And Battery
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor in the ENVY x360 15 is truly a top performer when it comes to multithreaded tasks. Its eight cores and 16 threads push it well ahead of the comparable 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 chip, and it will even beat out 10th Gen H-series Intel Core i7 CPUs. Intel still wins in most single-core cases, but if you’re going in heavy on multitasking, this is the CPU you want.
On the other hand, however, the RX Vega 8 GPU isn’t particularly impressive. It’s basically the same as you find in Ryzen 4000 chips, and its performance comes in below Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. No matter the case, a dedicated GPU â like the NVIDIA MX450 in the Intel version of the ENVY x360 15 â is going to trounce the integrated graphics. If you’re leaning toward more intensive design or editing work, it will certainly come in handy.
I had absolutely no issues using this laptop for heavy web browsing , photo editing, video conferencing, and media streaming. The CPU and GPU each have a separate fan, but they’re silent when the laptop isn’t under strenuous load. While benchmarking the laptop I noticed some fan noise, but it quickly cut off when the testing was finished. Despite how thin it is, this isn’t a laptop that gets particularly hot on any surface.

Hp Envy X360 15 Software And Warranty
The HP Envy x360 takes a minimalist approach to bloatware, and you mostly find the standard Windows 10 OS holdover such as Xbox Console Companion and Xbox Game bar, as well as Skype.;
Some proprietary HP applications like the HP Command Center allow you some intimate access to things like boosting your network speed. ;HPs enhanced lighting app creates a ring light on the screen that helps illuminate your face during video conferencing and is highly adjustable.;
Lastly, my favorite HP app is Quickdrop; it allows you to transfer files from your phone to your laptop instantly and is one of the most user-friendly apps you can use.

Hp Envy X360 Performance
While the Envy x360 is available in a range of specifications, the baseline model comes equipped with an AMD A9 APU. This dual-core processor simply isnt the fastest out there by a large margin, and the resulting performance leaves the laptop lacking.
It managed a score of 2,278 in the Geekbench 4 single-threaded tests and 3,485 in the multi-threaded tests, while in a PCMark run it achieved a score of 2,483. This makes it quite a lot slower than the significantly cheaper HP Pavilion x360 when multi-tasking; the Intel Core i3-6100U on board this significantly cheaper device has Intel Hyper-Threading, which speeds up multi-tasking performance. This makes choosing the AMD A9-powered edition of the Envy x360 a little puzzling.
In everyday use you probably wont notice the difference, but when rendering photos you might feel the pinch.
What really helps every day snappiness is the high-speed M.2 SSD running in the device, which achieved a read speed of 810MB/sec in the AS SSD benchmark and 136MB/sec write speeds. The write speeds are much lower than Id expect, but system feel is defined by read speeds, and these are sky-high.
While real-world performance is more than sufficient for day-to-day use, gamers will want to look elsewhere the Radeon graphics arent up to the task of playing modern-day titles. In Minecraft, the frame rate displayed plenty of variance, jumping between 20 and 40 frames per second. Turn up the settings, and you really wont have a playable experience.
Screen Flickering / Pwm
|Screen flickering / PWM not detected|
In comparison: 52;% of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 15377 Hz was measured.
In the state of delivery, the display produces an acceptable color reproduction but misses the target with a Delta-E 2000 deviation of about 6.1. The display does not suffer from a blue tint. Calibration only offers marginal improvements. The AdobeRGB and sRGB color spaces are not covered completely.
HP has equipped the convertible with an IPS panel with stable viewing angles, allowing the display to be read from any position. Outdoors, the display is hardly readable, since the reflective display surface prevents this.;
