Hp Spectre X360 13 Design
Striking and sturdy, the Spectre x360 13 stands at the peak of laptop design.;
I’d usually roll my eyes at the fancy words HP uses to describe the Spectre, like “chamfered” and “beveled.” In this case, however, it’s as if the company handed an aluminum slab to a master gem cutter and told them to use their finest techniques.;
Where laptops like the MacBook Air or Surface Laptop 4 are slab-shaped with rounded corners, the Spectre x360 has diamond-cut edges and aggressive angles. These bold design elements give the Spectre a luxurious, attention-grabbing form. If the silver Spectre isn’t showy enough, HP offers a stealthy Nightfall Black version or, my personal favorite, the cerulean Poseidon Blue color variant.;
More compact than before, at 12.1 x 7.7 x 0.7 inches and 2.8 pounds, the Spectre x360 13 now has a genuine edge-to-edge display with barely-there bezels. The XPS 13 remains the king of compact while the MacBook Air is in need of a redesign. For comparison, the Spectre x360 14 comes in at 11.8 x 8.7 x 0.6 inches and 3 pounds.
Flexible dual hinges allow the Spectre x360 13, a 2-in-1 laptop, to convert from a laptop into a tablet. They are stiff enough to prevent the screen from wobbling when you tap on the glass, yet flipping the panel around to transition into tent or tablet mode doesn’t require much force. It strikes the right balance between sturdy and practical.
Microsoft Surface Pro 7+
The best business 2-in-1 laptop
Reasons to avoid
The;Surface Pro 7+;takes the Surface Pro 7 and makes it for business users by adding 11th Gen Intel CPUs, 4G LTE connectivity and an easily swappable SSD. The battery life gets a small upgrade and the new processor provides outstanding performance in our synthetic and real-world testing.;
The design hasn’t changed at all, but the Surface Pro 7+ has a USB-C port for charging and connecting peripherals. Microsoft still sells the comfortable Alcantara-clad Type Cover and the super-responsive Surface Pen, which makes it easy to draw or take notes on this tablet’s vivid and bright 12.3-inch display.
There is still room for improvement. For example, the Surface Pro 7+’s display bezels are chunky, storage/RAM upgrades are inexplicably expensive, and there is no Thunderbolt 3 port. Still, this is one of the best 2-in-1 devices around, and an excellent choice if you’re traveling.;Not sold on the Surface Pro 7+? See our review of the ThinkPad X12 Detachable.;
Reasons to avoid
It’s by far the cheapest 2-in-1 device on this list, and easily the best value you can find. The Chromebook Duet has a 10.1-inch display and comes with a detachable keyboard. Yep, that’s right, the Duet, unlike the Surface or iPad, comes with a keyboard. Why is that so incredible? Because it costs just $299 and we’ve seen it for as low as $249.;

Microsoft Laptop Surface Go
Why we like it:;Everything we loved about the Surface 3 at a price to suit your needs
Battery life: Up to 13;hours
Storage space: 64GB-256GB
I once wrote that if Microsoft were ever to produce a budget version of its excellent-but-pricey Surface Laptop 3, I’d “have absolutely no doubt that itd be historic; considered one of the best laptops in history.” Well, apparently dreams can come true.;
The Surface Go takes everything I loved about the Surface Laptop 3 and slashes the price to a figure normal people might actually be tempted by. While technically the Surface Laptop 3 is the superior in terms of specifications, the Surface Go makes you forget about all that with its smart, elegant design and ease of use.;
I use the term elegant because while it’s a handsome device with a sleek aluminium chassis on top in ice blue, platinum, or sandstone , it’s not trying to reinvent the wheel: it still looks like a laptop. Even so, the 12.4 inch touchscreen with slim bezels are nice enough and optimised for colour so it’s great and bright to work on. It’s also lighter than it’s predecessor at just 1.1kg, which puts it among the very lightest laptops out there.;
The other big thing to talk about is the battery which is excellent. Microsoft claims it can make 13 hours on certain settings; I’ve managed about 10 and a half, but either way it’s impressive. Even more so when you can consider go from 0-80pc with an hour’s charge.;

What Should You Look For When Buying A New Laptop
There are certain things you can look out for when buying a new laptop in 2021 that can ensure you get the best laptop for your money.
Make sure you take a look at the specifications of a laptop before buying. This is a good way of quickly seeing how powerful a laptop is, and what it is capable of as long as you know what youre looking for.
First of all is the processor. This is essentially the brain of the laptop, and a laptop will usually have a processor made by either Intel or AMD. Intel is by far the most popular CPU maker for laptops, though were seeing an increasing number of AMD-powered laptops as well.
As a general rule of thumb, Intel processors offer better performance, but AMD processors are better value.
To make things more simple, both Intel and AMD have numbered their processors to give you a rough idea of what sort of tasks a laptop with that processor can perform.
If youre after a budget laptop for simple tasks like browsing the web or watching Netflix, then a laptop with an Intel Pentium, Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3, processor will do that job without making the laptop too expensive.
If youre after something with a bit more oomph perhaps to do more complex task like editing your home videos or playing games then go for a laptop with an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor as a minimum.
A newer processor performs better and is more power efficient so battery life will last longer. They are more expensive, though.
The Best Tablets For Writers And Writing
Tablets have become the must-have gadget for people who travel frequently. Its an entertainment center, productivity tool and internet browser all in one compact device. Ideal for somebody who wants to write wherever and whenever they get the urge, dont you think?
Tablets are even more lightweight and portable than a laptopalways a good thing in these days of ever reducing hand luggage allowances. A tablet, even with an additional keyboard, is something which can easily slip into a backpack without adding too much bulk or weight.
Not all tablets are created equally though, and none are specifically marketed for writers. Lets take a look at what you should consider in a writing tablet, before studying some of the top sellers in more detail.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 And Surface Pro 7 Plus
The latest Surface flagship comes in the form of the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 and Surface Pro 7 Plus. Just like their predecessor, these tablets can easily double up as powerful laptops thanks to their excellent specs and detachable keyboard.
The standard Pro 7 model comes in several configurations. You can choose between 4, 8, and 16GB for RAM, while SSD storage options range from 128GB to 1TB. The available processors are 10th Gen dual-core Intel i3, quad-core i5, and quad-core i7. You can also get a graphics update on the i5 and i7 models since they sport Intel Iris Plus Graphics. All versions come with Windows 10 Home and, finally, a USB-C port. Battery life has also improved slightly compared to last years Surface Pro the Pro 7 promises around 10 hours.
In terms of design, Microsoft has not made any compromises. The Pro 7 has the sleek look we have come to expect from Surface products the device has a premium metal unibody and reasonably sized bezels around its 12.3-inch display. However, the Pro 7 is not among the lightest Surface products, weighing between 775 and 790g without any attachments. The keyboard/type cover is slim and compact, so it wont weigh you down too much, but its unfortunately sold separately. The same applies to the stylus. This is the biggest problem with the Surface Pro 7. Its already expensive with a starting price of $749.00 for the lowest spec model and all of the extras add up.
A Great Choice For Mac Power Users
The 16-inch MacBook Pro is the best Apple laptop for power users. Apple dealt with the biggest complaints that people have historically had about MacBook Pros, and if you can stomach the price, theres not a lot else to complain about.
Most importantly, the keyboard is good again. The keys have a full millimeter of travel, and while the typing experience isnt exceptional, its a world away from the maligned butterfly keyboard of MacBooks past. Its fairly quiet, too.
This MacBook also features the best sound youll find on a laptop. Apple has crammed three speakers into each side, including two woofers. The result is balanced audio with audible bass and great stereo separation. For those who need a laptop that can crank through editing video, working with multiple audio tracks, or processing large batches of photos, the 16-inch MacBook Pro is the king of the hill.

Lenovo Thinkpad X12 Detachable: Flaws But Not Dealbreakers
Windows and its apps were designed to run on a normal PC first, so using the ThinkPad X12 like a normal PCone with a keyboard and trackpad and a wide range of external accessoriesis easy once you get past the tablets limited number and variety of ports. Unfortunately, Microsoft still hasnt been able to convince most developers to create tablet-specific, touch-friendly versions of their apps for people who want to use the X12 as a tablet. You can find a decent variety of drawing apps, but when it comes to modern non-Minecraft touchscreen games or anything for editing videos, audio, or photos, youre almost always better off sticking with a mouse and keyboard.
Windows 10s stylus support is great, offering customizable shortcut buttons, handwriting recognition for text fields, and other tweakable settings. But in my experience with Lenovos Digital Pen, the stylus was not as responsive as the Surface Pen or the second-generation Apple Pencil when I was writing or drawing, and the tablet wasnt very good at ignoring my palm on the touchscreen when I was drawing. And although the pressure sensitivity worked well, you need to pay extra for a pen that can tell youre holding it at an angle. Lenovos pens also rely on a replaceable AAAA battery rather than a more convenient internal rechargeable battery like that of the Apple Pencil.
Assess Your Budget: How Much Do I Need To Spend
Dont care about cutting-edge design and powerful components? You might be satisfied with a cheap laptop. Todays market is flooded with basic but full-featured models with list prices under $500. Shopping holidays like Prime Day and Black Friday, and actual holidays like Presidents Day, bring frequent sales, discounting some of these models even further. Most of them will handle word processing and e-mail checking just fine, but theyll struggle with other tasks, such as keeping many web browser tabs open at once.;

What Are The Best 2
The best 2-in-1 laptop we’ve tested is the HP Envy x360 13. We can’t get over its stunning chassis and surprisingly low price. Beyond the design, the Envy x360 13 offers a bright and colorful display, fast performance and mind-blowing battery life.
If the Envy x360 13 isn’t for you, take a look at the Lenovo Yoga 9i or Dell XPS 13 2-in-1. These competing 2-in-1 laptops are direct rivals to the fantastic Spectre x360 14 and might be a better option for you depending on your needs and preferences. Business users should consider the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga, which is essentially a more flexible version of the X1 Carbon.;
But laptops that convert into tablets aren’t the only devices that fall under the “2-in-1” umbrella. Tablets with detachable keyboards are another option for those who want something more portable. If you’re in that group, Microsoft has you covered with the Surface Go and Surface Pro 7+ .;The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is an excellent low-cost option while the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus are pricier tablet-first convertibles running Android 10.;
Best Memory Storage: Microsoft Surface Pro X
Courtesy of Amazon
Internal memory storage is an important factor to consider when buying a note-taking tablet, and the Microsoft Surface Pro X has plenty of storage space to spare. You can configure your model with either 8 or 16 GB of RAM and it supports SSDs up to 512GB; you can either choose your storage or swap out the SSD later when you need more space, letting the Surface Pro X be more flexible for your needs.
Its 2-in-1 form factor lets you use it as both a tablet and laptop when you need to. You can connect the Surface Keyboard and Slim Pen for traditional typing or hand-writing notes. The 13-inch screen gives you an edge-to-edge work surface, meaning you’ll have plenty of room to edit documents and photos, take video calls, or update web pages.
You’ll stay connected to work via Wi-Fi and Gigabit LTE cellular data, letting you work with or without an internet connection. The Surface Pro X works with Windows Hello facial recognition software as well as BitLocker for biometric logins and data encryption to keep your personal and work information safe. The integrated battery gives you up to 15 hours of use on a full charge, letting you work almost two typical days in the office before you need to plug in.

Screen Size Resolution And Graphics Power
Screen size is more a matter of personal taste, while resolution and graphics power are productivity issues. Most 2-in-1 hybrids like to reside in the 10-12″ screen-size neighborhood, although quite a few have ventured beyond. Resolution varies from low-end HD 1366 x 768 to high-end 2736 x 1824, and almost none has a dedicated graphics card. What youll probably find that suits you is something that rests squarely in the middle of the road, such as the Dell 13.3″ Inspiron 13 7000 Series Multi-Touch 2-in-1 Notebook. It has a big screen size; 13.3″ is great for a laptop, but may seem kind of unwieldy as a tablet at the beginning, with Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520. Benchmark testing across the board shows that the Intel 520 series is great for playing games at medium resolution. Tag on the 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5-6200U Dual-Core Skylake processor, 8GB of RAM and a 360° hinge, and you have a near perfect 2-in-1.
