What Is The Best Lenovo Laptop For Business

Th Lenovo Thinkpad X13 Gen 2

Reviewed: The Lenovo Thinkpad T480s Business Laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 2 is not only available as a Yoga convertible but also in a traditional clamshell design, which is very reminiscent of its convertible sibling in many ways. Most notable of which is the new 16:10 display that was bestowed upon the entire X-series. A redesign that paid off, as the compact X13 G2 is a perfect fit for the 13.3-inch large 16:10 display. Like the T14s Gen 2 the X13 Gen 2 features plentiful connectivity and offers a long battery life to boot.

Sounds like a perfect laptop for road warriors but it is not perfect by any means. RAM is soldered onto the motherboard and thus not upgradable, and while the keyboard remains very good it is not as good as it used to be in previous generations.

Great connectivity including 5G, a 16:10 display, and long battery life: the ThinkPad X13 G2 continues to be a very good portable workhorse despite the fact that its keyboard is not as good as it used to be.

With prices starting at $1,200 the X13 Gen 2 is one of the more affordable ThinkPads in Lenovos current line-up. It is among others available through Lenovos own web store.

  • Rd Hp Elite Dragonfly Max

Last years HP Elite Dragonfly surprised us with its unusual dark blue case, not necessarily with its color but mostly its low weight. The HP Elite Dragonfly Max is successor to the Elite Dragonfly in a maximum SKU thereof. It includes all Elite Dragonfly G2 features and adds a better webcam, HP SureView, and a new black case.

In addition to features such as 5G, a very quiet fan, a good keyboard, and a great webcam the HP Elite Dragonfly Max achieved a very good rating in our review. Its largest downside is the SureView display that impedes tablet mode usability due to its narrow viewing angles.

The recipe is very simple. Take the Spectre x360 13, put it in a nice professional suite and tie, and voila: the HP Elite Dragonfly Max. The device offers SureView and low noise emissions at the cost of crisp image quality and performance when compared to many other 13.3-inch notebooks with Intels 11 gen. processors.

Considering that it is a direct competitor to Lenovos ThinkPad X1 Yoga its high price is not surprising at all. Prices start at $2,300, and the device is currently only available through HPs own website.

Graphics and gaming: Business laptops are rarely built to do much serious gaming, but if you just want to unwind with older or undemanding games like Civilization, you should be fine as long as you have at least a Core i5 CPU and 8 GB of RAM. For more demanding games, look into one of the best gaming laptops instead a few have designs subtle enough to not look out of place in a boardroom.

Size: Consider how mobile you want your business laptop to be. Machines such as the Dell ThinkPad X1 Nano and HP Elite Dragonfly are slim and feather-light, whereas machines with larger screens are a bit bulkier and more painful to carry all day.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Yoga proves that ThinkPads don’t need carbon fiber to compete. Made from CNC aluminum, the ThinkPad X1 Yoga’s chassis is now thinner and lighter yet just as durable as ever. Reasons to avoid

Pros: Lenovo took the best business laptop and beefed it up with 11th Gen Intel CPUs. You still get the ThinkPad X1 Carbon’s attractive, slim and durable chassis. Business users who travel frequently will appreciate the 15+ hours of battery life offered by the 1200p version. The 1200p screen was surprisingly bright. And in typical ThinkPad fashion, the latest 9th Gen X1 Carbon has a best-in-class keyboard that you’ll love typing on. It’s easily at the top of the best ThinkPads.

Cons: While we adore this laptop, it’s not truly perfect. It features a poor 720p webcam, no card slot and the touchpad is a bit small. On top of that, the IR camera doesn’t even come included by default, which is odd considering it’s a business notebook.

    Reasons to avoid

Pros: Your average ThinkPad isn’t very wallet-friendly, but the ThinkPad X13 goes against the grain. For less than $1,000, this machine offers a speedy AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U CPU, a carbon fiber/magnesium alloy design and even a select few security features like a fingerprint reader and an optional IR camera for Windows Hello. Despite the price, Lenovo doesn’t skimp on the keyboard. Its keys felt super responsive. Those concave keys we’ve praised for years have what feels like an impossible amount of travel for a laptop this thin.

    Best For Travel: Ideapad S940

Best Laptops for Business Travel in 2021

    Th Dell Latitude 7410

To everyones surprise Dell decided to redesign its premium Latitude 700 series once again this year. With its robust aluminum case the Dell Latitude 7410 is supposed to compete against Lenovos ThinkPad T14s and X1 Carbon. And while it fails to outshine its competitors in every aspect it does offer a few benefits, such as for example the large touchpad, integrated WWAN, and a very long battery life.

In return, it ended up being comparatively large and heavy, its RAM is soldered onto the motherboard, and it lacks a trackpoint. And last but not least there is no AMD Ryzen 4000 option, which is the main reason why it failed to keep up with the ThinkPad T14s.

    Touchscreen And Screen Size

Something as simple as deciding if you want your laptop to have touchscreen capabilities is important when looking to purchase a laptop. If you are someone whose work becomes easier by the possibility of giving direct commands to your screen, then a touchscreen laptop might be important for you. This is because the touchscreen makes it possible for you to perform tasks such as drawing and writing with a pen directly on your screen. Some of the touchscreen laptops are also 2-in-1 laptops, so you can enjoy both the laptop and the tablet experience on your device.

In terms of screen size, you have to choose whether you want to optimize for portability or wider view. The 13-inch Chromebook has the smallest screen size on the list and is arguably the most portable. If you want more screen real estate to view your documents and windows better, having a 15.6-inch laptop is better. However, if you want a blend of both, you can go for the 14-inch laptop with the only downside being the absence of a dedicated numerical keypad that is found in 15.6-inch versions.

Best Lenovo Laptops: What To Consider

One great thing about this brand is that take their premium laptops or their budget ones, they have a really good build quality. You will not feel any cheapness from even the one that is $1000 less than their premium siblings.

The touchscreen on Lenovo laptops can be used with either your hands but give the best result with the active pen. You can adjust the pressure sensitivity and such through the laptop settings. Using another stylus other than the active pen from Lenovo might not give good results.

Some premium business laptops might have a high-end GPU, but it does not make it a gaming laptop. They are kind of like a work station with a GPU that might be used for graphics-intensive tasks like rendering.

The reason for that is the brand has not focused on those models from a gaming perspective. So they might not have the kind of cooling solution that is required in gaming laptops mostly.

Lenovo laptops also include webcam shutters for privacy and encryption for data security. They are really decent laptops heavily focused on business needs, thus they are the first choice for businessmen around the globe.

Best Gaming Laptop: Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

11 Best Lenovo Laptops For Personal Use, Business And Gaming

Just because Lenovo is mostly well-known for its business laptops, it doesnt mean the company cant make a stellar gaming laptop too. The Lenovo 5 Pro is a powerful gaming rig with all the performance youd expect, and its a fantastic choice for anyone who wants to play games while also having the portability of a laptop. Weve reviewed the Legion 5 Pro, and found it to be a great laptop that can handle both gaming and productivity tasks very well.

Starting with performance, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is the first laptop on this list to feature an AMD processor instead of an Intel one, and it comes with a Ryzen 7 5800H. Thats a 7nm processor with eight cores and 16 threads, which is going to be great for both gaming and productivity workloads like video rendering. You can pair that with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 for an incredibly powerful setup that can handle pretty much any modern game without a problem. You can also add up to 32GB of RAM more than enough for most modern games and up to 2TB of storage with two SSDs. Modern games can fill that up somewhat quickly if you play a lot of them, but this is still a lot.

A downside of this laptop is its webcam, which is only 720p and doesnt include an IR camera for Windows Hello. In fact, you get no form of biometric authentication on this laptop, which is a bummer nowadays. On the bright side, those worried about privacy do get a switch that internally disconnects the webcam to turn it off entirely.

    Assessing Graphics: Integrated Vs Dedicated

Most business PCs come with integrated graphics chips, which are a lightweight graphics-acceleration solution that’s part of the main CPU. These integrated GPUs are usually fine for business laptops, since you won’t be playing 3D games on a computer meant for work. Most professionals who require discrete graphics will use them for specialized tasks such as GPU acceleration in Photoshop, high-definition video creation in Adobe Premiere Pro, or 3D graphics visualization in architectural drawings and CAD software. Mobile-workstation-class laptops will usually come with some sort of discrete graphics, either for their 3D capabilities or to drive multiple monitors.

When evaluating graphics solutions, it’s easy to tell what tier of business laptop you’re looking at. Integrated graphics silicon is usually dubbed “Intel HD Graphics,” “Intel UHD Graphics,” “Iris Plus,” or “Iris Xe” and indicates a mainstream business machine. In contrast to integrated solutions, the most common dedicated graphics chips in laptops, as a whole, are from Nvidia’s GeForce line, but they are not usual fare in business machines. GeForce GTX or RTX chips tend to be reserved for higher-end consumer or gaming systems, though some business machines will include one of Nvidia’s lesser GeForce MX chips to give graphics a little boost. A higher-end workstation machine will tend to use dedicated graphics chips from Nvidia’s Quadro or AMD’s Radeon Pro line.

Best Chromebook: Lenovo Flex 5i Chromebook

Finally, for those who might prefer Chrome OS to Windows, we have the IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook. This is one of the best Chromebooks Lenovo makes, and unless youre looking to spend a pretty penny on the business-oriented Chromebooks, its likely your best option.

For starters, its running on Intels 11th-generation Core processors, specifically the Intel Core i3-1115G4. This is a dual-core, four thread CPU, and while thats not exactly impressive, its better than the Celeron processors youll find in many other Chromebooks. Many of these devices use low-power or older hardware, so getting the latest Intel Core i3 is going to give you a better experience than most other Chrome OS laptops.

Along with that, you get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. Again, this isnt amazing, but considering the use case of most Chromebooks, youll probably be just fine. Many applications for these laptops are web-based, so you likely dont need a lot of storage space on the device. And the amount of RAM here should be enough for some basic multi-tasking, too.

The display on the IdeaPad Flex 5i is also pretty good. Its a 13.3 inch panel, and at that size, the Full HD resolution of the display should be sharp enough to look great in almost any situation. Of course, since this is a convertible, the screen supports touch, as well as pen input. As for sound, you get a pair of stereo speakers with 2W of power each, enough for a solid media experience.
