- 15 laptops

When To Choose A Larger Laptop For College
Of course, a 13.3 laptop might not be the best fit for all. We do believe that it will generally work for almost all students, but sometimes going for a larger screen can offer you some bonuses.
The classic laptop size is 15.6 and that is where you will find a ton of options in all budget ranges, but also with all sort of specifications, from cheap and crappy to expensive and amazing.
If you are a college student that wants to do some serious gaming or if your line of study requires it , a 15.6 laptop with a dedicated GPU might be a better choice.
Yes, you can find 13.3 laptops with dedicated GPUs , but if you will be spending hours in front of the screen, the jump from 13.3 to 15.6 will be an eye saver and will make everything easier.
Do have in mind that if you go this route, your laptop will most likely be heavier and a bit more difficult to carry around. But its a price I am personally ready to pay for the advantages brought by the larger screen.

Set Your Technology Budget And Optimize Your Shopping Strategy
The best way to optimize your tech spending is to set a clear budget before shopping. As you set your budget, consider not only the overall amount you’re willing to spend but how that will amortize over the number of laptops you’ll buy. When entrepreneurs don’t set a budget before shopping, especially for technology, they often end up overspending or underspending. Not every business needs a fleet of top-of-the-line machines, and it’s a waste of time to consider high-cost options if they don’t suit your bottom line. On the other hand, underspending can end up costing you more in the long run if you don’t get what your employees need the first time around.
One popular approach to tech budgeting is to adopt different tiers of devices based on user needs. For example, it may be worth springing for luxury Dell machines for your C-suite execs and dev team, midrange Dell laptops for your professional staff, and entry-level Dells for support staff. It’s advisable to stick to one or two manufacturers to simplify maintenance and mobile device management in the future. For this reason, it’s best to keep tech purchasing decisions in the hands of a small number of high-level employees and not open the conversation to your entire staff.

What Kind Of Laptop Screen Do I Need
Laptop screens have grown denser over the past decade, packing more pixels into the same area. That enables crisper text, sharper onscreen images, and, often, better-looking colors. Display density is sometimes measured in pixels per inch , but the main specification that defines a laptop screen is its native resolution, which is expressed in horizontal by vertical pixels.
Most laptops that cost $500 or more have screens with at least full HD resolutions. Also known as 1080p displays, they sport a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels and typically employ LCD panels built on whats known as in-plane switching technology. IPS screens quality can vary, but they are best known for keeping the quality of the image high if you look at the screen from an oblique, or off-side, angle. Thin-film transistor , the other major screen type in modern laptops , tends to shift colors or look faded if not viewed straight-on. That matters if you often share the contents of your screen with otherssay, when giving impromptu presentations.
Cheap Windows- and Chrome OS-based laptops will usually have lower-resolution thin-film transistor displays , which means text wont appear as crisp and colors might not be as vivid as youve come to expect from your smartphone or TV. If youre not picky about image quality, though, a lower-resolution display might be an acceptable sacrifice in the quest to save money.

How About Battery Life
The short answer is not to count on your gaming notebook being super portable.
If youre using your laptop to play games, you need to keep your laptop plugged in to get the full performance out of your GPU. And if you dont, youll be lucky if your laptop lasts an hour gaming. In our testing experience, most gaming laptops last only a few hours on a charge when performing other tasks, but never as long as ultraportables without discrete GPUs. If you need something to last 8 hours while you work, it wont be a gaming notebook.
Some do last long, but thats often at the expense of the display, and you dont want to play all your games on a dark, dim or inaccurate screen.
Is A Tablet A Better Option Than A Laptop
Not if youâre planning on working remotely. This includes running a business, blogging, vlogging, or anything that requires heavy work, even editing pictures. A smaller laptop would still be a better investment than a tablet.
But if you simply want to stay connected on a bigger screen, watch Netflix, or reply to emails and do meetings, then a tablet would work perfectly. Itâs much lighter, smaller, and more portable than even the most lightweight laptop.

Limitations You Can Live With
Naturally, a budget laptop is one thats more affordable than cutting-edge machines, and in the majority of cases, a lower price means less-powerful internal hardware. Thats not a bad thing. For example, if you spend most of your computer time browsing the web or watching movies, chances are you dont need the latest-generation processor or an ultra-powerful video card. You can save a lot of money by finding a budget laptop that makes reasonable compromises.
As youre shopping for budget laptops, consider the most common hardware compromises youll encounter.
- Video hardware: Most budget laptops either use underpowered graphics processing units , or they power their video by sharing resources with the main processor . In these cases, video on the laptop will be adequate, but thats about it. Watching Netflix will be fine, but your laptop will struggle with more intense video tasks such as playing video games and editing videos.
“If youre thinking about buying a budget laptop with an 11-inch screen, make sure the diminutive size isnt too small for your hands. Some users complain that there isnt enough room to comfortably type on the corresponding keyboard. “

What Ram Do You Need
RAM is where your laptop stores data before processing them, and its size affects how well your laptop can handle âmulti-taskingâ.
Imagine editing photos on Lightroom, then writing a blog article on Google Docs, and then watching a YouTube video . Having a large RAM lets you switch between tasks smoothly.
Hereâs a quick summary of the most common RAM sizes:
- 4GB: Great for general browsing, word editing software, and writing emails.
- 8GB: Everything above, plus video calls and light photo editing. If youâre running a simple blog without doing anything too heavy, 8GB of RAM should be enough.
- 16GB: Youâll need at least this amount for editing up to 4K videos and photos while multitasking. Itâs the minimum RAM size for digital nomads. Trust us, it will make your life much easier!
- 32GB: Usually used in gaming laptops or heavy video editing, and by that we donât mean travel or Youtube videos, weâre talking movie quality stuff!
Of course, the more RAM, the more expensive the laptop, so itâs important to strike a balance between what you need your laptop to do, and your budget.

Best Overall Laptop For Travel Macbook Air
Two quick things.
Everyone else. This is the best travel laptop.
If youre an Apple user, this is Apples best Mac laptop for the money and this was the first laptop I took traveling which was adequate for working online.
The pros are its integration with apple products, ease-of-use, trackpad and keyboard, design, and reliable performance.
Ive used MacBooks for 7 years now , and Ive never needed repairs . I cant say the same for any of the PCs Ive owned, which is why I think Macs are the best user-friendly laptops if you dont have a computer background.
If you want a MacBook for browsing, streaming, social, and office, the MacBook Air is fast enough, especially with 2017s updated processor speed and default memory . But if you want a Retina resolution screen, Kaby Lake processors, and more power for editing programs, youll have to fork out the money for a MacBook Pro instead.
I recommend you go for as much storage as you can afford if you plan on storing music, images or video because you cant add storage to Apple computers after purchase. If your laptop is used for browsing and light document work the 128GB should be fine.
Where And How You’ll Be Using Your Laptop
Do you travel a lot? Go to school, college or university every day and need to take your laptop with you? Whatever the reason, if you leave the house with your laptop a lot, then portability is key. Which mostly leads itself to suggest you get a smaller, 13-inch laptop that’s light and easy to carry around.
However, there are laptops out there like the Dell XPS 15 which pack a 15-inch display into the frame of a 14-inch laptop. Dell isn’t the only company making slim and light 15-inch laptops either. The XPS 15 is probably the best example, but others like the HP Spectre x360 15 and ASUS ZenBook Pro aren’t exactly bricks while still having a larger screen.
Also consider how you’ll be using it. If you’re a video editor, then you’ll benefit from having a larger screen. If you’re predominantly writing, browsing the web, even consuming media, then you’ll be fine with a 13-inch.

Best Midrange Travel Laptop Dell Xps 13
The Dell XPS is best mid-range laptop for travel because of its superb battery life, 7th-generation Core performance and excellent Wi-Fi range.
I love that it has more ports than on competing laptops, as well as an SD port. It also has a touch-screen higher-resolution option .
As for its design, the Dell XPS has a comfortable soft-touch, carbon-fibre deck, infinity display, and rose-colour option.
Often the trade off for a thin, best ultralight laptop is shorter battery life and too few ports. The XPS 13, however, gives you nearly 14 hours of battery power, and all the connection options you need while also remaining pretty light and compact for travel.
If you are a PC user, the Dell XPS 13 is the best travel computer within the $1000 range. Though if you want more memory than 256MB, or an i7 processor, you will have to pay more money. This is a high quality laptop at a great price
