Install A File Recovery Program
You may wonder why it is a need to install a file undelete software. Its because when you accidentally deleted or lost some files, installing the data recovery program to the same partition where contains the lost data will cause data overwriting, and this will make the lost data unrecoverable anymore.
Therefore, its advised to install one of best data recovery software beforehand, and use it to recover deleted/lost files when needed.

Increasing your budget to around $1,000 will unlock access to nearly all of the cutting-edge features modern laptops offer. These include slim, sturdy aluminum chassis, brilliant touch-enabled 4K displays, powerful processors and graphics chips, and batteries that will last all day and well into the night. The major caveat in this price range is that youll have to pick and choose which features are most important. You might be able to land a laptop with a beautiful 4K display or a cavernous terabyte of solid-state storage at this price, but probably not one with both.
If your piggybank has $2,000 or more, you can choose almost any combination of features you want. Even the most powerful laptop that money can buy, though, must still obey the laws of physics. Powerful hardware generates heat, and the cooling mechanisms that such components require take up space. Hardcore gamers who want a 17-inch display and a screaming-fast graphics processor that requires bulky cooling pipes and fans cant expect to find it in a thin, light laptop.

Older Processors Are Fine
Here is how it works: Core i series processors are better. Even if they are one generation old, they are better than latest generation Pentiums so if at the same price you have to choose between two, go with the Core i. Similarly, the Pentium is better than Atom in performance, and even if the Pentium belongs to a generation that is two years old, it is fine to opt for it.
Consider The Best Laptop Operating System
All or most laptops come with one of different Operating Systems – Windows, Chrome OS,Linux and macOS . Each of these OS is superb but picking the right one is based on individual needs or preferences. Windows OS is the most flexible and runs on more laptops than Chrome OS or macOS. Windows 10 is the latest Windows OS and Windows 10 laptops should be highly prioritized by researchers, business professionals, and students. Gamers should consider Gaming Laptops as they run mostly on Windows 10 OS. Laptops like Google Pixelbook, Lenovo Ideapad, HP Flagship Chromebook, Lenovo 100E Intel Celeron N4000, and others run on the Chrome OS. This OS is secure but more limited than the other two OS. Currently, some of the new Chromebooks, including the Google PixelBook are designed to run Android Apps. Chromebooks are best for surfing, highly portable, and offer good battery life at low prices.
All MacBooks run on the macOS which offers similar functionality to Windows 10, but with a slightly different interface.

Check The Cooling Fans
For a desktop computer, check to see if all the fans are spinning up. If they are noisy, its not a deal-breaker, they are easy and cheap to replace.
If you are considering a laptop, make sure that the intake passages look clean and that you can hear the fan operating after using it for a few minutes.
If you dont hear the fan at all, play a high-resolution video for a few minutes. If it still doesnt spin up, there is a chance that the computer has experienced some form of overheating.
In this case, move on to the next candidate. Its not worth the risk.
Best Laptops For Photo/video Artists
For editing photos and videos, having a CPU and GPU that can handle the workload is essential. CPUs for video editing are commonly referred to as H-Series for both AMD and Intel and provide additional performance benefits over standard U-Series CPUs. In terms of GPU, particularly for video, we recommend getting a laptop with as high a clock speed and as much VRAM as your budget can muster. Make sure to check any system requirements for the apps you want to run, and your CPU/GPU is above the minimum requirements!
Getting a laptop with a wide, high-resolution monitor with fine color accuracy and helps you see the most minute details of your work and allows you to have multiple windows open at once. Youll likely have to sacrifice long battery life for this kind of high-octane performance, especially at lower price points, and will likely also have a heavier laptop as well.
Adequate storage is more important than your average laptop shopper particularly for videos, the file sizes can be quite large. You may not always have an external hard drive handy and having copies of your files in as many places as possible doesnt hurt.
OS can be a particularly important consideration for video/photo laptops. You should consider the programs you want to run and base your decision of OS on that. For instance, the Adobe Creative Cloud apps run on macOS or Windows, but Apples Final Cut Pro video editing app can only be run on Mac laptops, and Windows Movie Maker only runs on Windows PCs.

Important Features To Consider When Buying A Laptop
While the overall performance offered by the RAM and CPU will typically be the most touted factors, there are several other components you need to carefully consider.
3.1. Laptop Screen Size & Resolution Options
The old axiom that bigger is better doesnt usually apply when buying a laptop. In most cases, you want to go smaller for enhanced portability. These will be your typical size options:
- 11 inch
- 15 inch
- 17 inch
Its important to keep in mind that as you go up in size, you also increase in weight and decrease in battery life.
17 inch screens are typically meant for gamers who dont mind being plugged into a wall outlet at all times. For the best crossroads between battery life, keyboard size, and display area, we recommend 12.5 inch 14 inch laptops.
You also need to look at resolution options, particularly if you plan on watching full movies or frequently playing games. The two most common resolutions available are:
- 1366 x 768
- 1920 x 1080
For true HD, we recommend going with the 1920 x 1080 option, but that may not always be available in budget models.
If you have more money to spend, you can find even higher resolutions that are referred to as retina, 3k, or 4k.
3.2. Form Factor
While laptops used to only come in one variety the standard clamshell youve now got several major options to choose from, including:
- Normal clamshell
- Clamshell that can lay 180 degrees flat
- Hybrid 2-in-1 360 degree hinge
- Hybrid with detachable keyboard
3.3. Keyboard Style
Important Factors To Consider When Buying A New Laptop

Solid State Drives Not Hard Disks
For storage, the number of files your device can hold, youll notice many computers today offer solid state drive memory instead of a hard disk drive. Generally, SSDs are preferred.
Why? SSDs are like the flash memory in your smartphone or iPad smaller, lighter and faster than a hard drive, with no moving parts. Hard drives spin. So solid state drives are less prone to damage and much easier on a battery.
SSDs do have a downside: less storage, on average, than a hard disk. A laptop may have 256 gigabytes of SSD storage compared to 1 terabyte, roughly 1,000 gigabytes, available with a hard disk.
But storage doesnt matter as much today as it once did. Streaming services like Netflix for movies and TV shows and Spotify for music dont require you to download files, and free cloud services can hold files for you offsite via a password-protected website or app such as Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud or OneDrive.
Check That Keyboard And Touchpad
The most impressive specs in the world don’t mean diddly if the laptop you’re shopping for doesn’t have good ergonomics. If you plan to do a lot of work on your computer, make sure the keyboard offers solid tactile feedback, plenty of key travel and enough space between the keys. If you’re buying a Windows laptop, be sure it has Precision touchpad drivers.
Look for an accurate touchpad that doesn’t give you a jumpy cursor and responds consistently to multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom. If you’re buying a business laptop, consider getting one with a pointing stick between the G and H keys so you can navigate around the desktop without lifting your fingers off the keyboard’s home row.

Hard Drive Memory And Storage Space
One of the most important aspects of your laptop, ensure youre considering laptops with ample storage space for your needs, whether that be to store documents, applications, videos or music.
Laptops have either a traditional hard drive or solid-state drive . Most Laptops have moved to SSD devices. HDD: Found in some laptops. These are cheaper and have more capacity than SSD devices. SSD: Although they have a smaller capacity, SSDs run a lot faster, allowing you to transfer, save and access files more quickly. More of the current Laptops contain SSD storage.
Similar to choosing your processor, consider what youre using your laptop for and the type of files youll be storing, as this will determine how much storage you need. The sizes are measured as follows: 1TB = 1000GB1GB = 1000MB
If you dont store music and only have a few photos, or store your files elsewhere, such as on a portable hard drive, an SSD of around 120GB to 250GB is plenty.
Memory is measured in RAM . RAM is what programs use to run and determines the speed at which these programs run. The higher the RAM, the quicker your programs will run, and the more programs you can run at the same time. The amount of RAM in each laptop varies but the more RAM, the more expensive the laptop.

Hard Drive Capacity And Speed
In general, the hard drive capacity and speed for most users are the most important things. If you have a lot of files to save, you should choose a larger computer. And for the speed, if you have enough budget, you can choose a computer which is built-in SSD. In this way, you can enjoy better read and write performance and speed. Of course, if your computer is an HDD, you can also add an SSD to your computer and choose to clone the OS from HDD to SSD.
What Is The Clock Speed
This is measured in GHz, and determines how fast the processor runs. A higher clock speed means your laptop can load software and files faster and that it will run smoother during normal use.
Some processors feature Turbo Boost or Turbo Core technology, which increases the speed of the processor to match the task at hand. This means the laptop consumes less power during light computing tasks, which reduces power consumption and increases battery life.

Could You Get By With A Tablet And Keyboard
Perhaps, but ask yourself: What’s the real benefit? Most students need a keyboard for taking notes and writing papers, so do you really need one that’s removable? Are you ever going to use the screen all by itself — especially if it’s a large, unwieldy screen, like 12-13 inches? A detachable keyboard is one more thing to keep charged, one more thing to lose or accidentally leave behind in your dorm room.
Lots of students are drawn to the 12.3-inch Microsoft Surface Pro 6, but I don’t like it. For starters, Microsoft stubbornly continues to charge extra for the keyboard instead of just bundling it. The tablet alone starts at $899 the keyboard will run you another $130. I honestly don’t see the point for the same money you can get a 13.3-inch laptop or convertible. Meanwhile, the Surface’s rear-hinge design has always made it awkward to use on your lap, and it might also be a poor fit on those little auditorium-seat desks.
Similarly, Apple has tried to turn iPads into laptops, but once again I think it’s a foolish hybridization. If you opt for a 9.7- or 10.5-inch iPad, you’ve got a screen that may prove too cramped for comfort. A 13.3-inch iPad solves those issues, but now you’re looking at a much higher price tag — and a tablet that’s far too large to use comfortably as a tablet. Same lap/small-desk issues as the Surface, too.
Which Laptop Cpu Do I Need
Most $1,000 ultraportables use Intels Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs, or, less commonly, AMDs Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 CPUs. All of these offer plenty of power for everyday computing tasks, but keep in mind that higher CPU model numbers typically indicate more processor cores, higher maximum clock speeds, and sometimes even multithreading. With multithreading, each CPU core can run two sets of software instructions simultaneously, instead of just one. Modern software is designed to take advantage of as many CPU cores as possible, so it can run faster on multithreaded chips.
Meanwhile, budget laptops typically use AMDs A-series or Ryzen 3 processors, or Intels Celeron, Core i3, or Pentium silicon. These typically have just two or four individual cores. At the other end of the spectrum, high-end powerhouse laptops have Intels Core i9 or workstation-class Xeon CPUs, with as many as eight cores.
Regardless of which CPU a laptop has, its typically designed to use less power and generate less heat than its desktop counterpart. Intel laptop CPUs in the latest mainstream, lightweight laptops typically consume 15 watts of power or less, compared with 45 watts or more for their desktop equivalents.
Gaming laptops typically feature higher-powered CPUs, usually denoted by an “H” in the CPU’s model name. These require more cooling hardware and consume more energy, but they offer performance that’s closer to that of a desktop PC. Youll find H-series CPUs from both AMD and Intel.
