Its hard to find fault with it: Its performance, keyboard, and screen are all great, its battery life is excellent, and at just under 3 pounds, it will comfortably fit in most backpacks or bags without straining your shoulders or back. We wish it included a card reader, and ideally its price would be closer to that of the ThinkPad L14 than that of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. But as with most business laptops, the ability to upgrade and replace parts yourself can help offset the extra up-front cost in the long run.
Lenovos ThinkPads still feature our favorite laptop keyboards and trackpads, but the EliteBooks keyboard and trackpad are pretty comparable. It has good-sized, evenly spaced keys that feel firm and have a satisfying amount of travel when you press them, and its trackpad is accurate and responsive. HPs arrow-key layout is a bit oddit has normal left- and right-arrow keys but short, wide up- and down-arrow keysand fans of the ThinkPads red pointing nub wont find an equivalent in the EliteBook. Ah, yes, the MacBook Pro. Specifically, I’m recommending the 13-inch here, though clearly the 16-inch MacBook Pro is the king of power-portables. The 2020 13-inch version, however, is mighty powerful in its own right, at least if you buy the models with the 10th-generation Intel Quad-core processors.
Those start at $1,799, but you now get at least 256GB of storage, which can expand to 4TB. They also start with 16GB of RAM, though you can opt for 32GB if you really need the memory. Now that the Magic Keyboard is back , the 13-inch MacBook Pro is my overall favorite choice. In fact, it would be the best overall if not for its higher starting price tag.
