Increase Or Upgrade The Processor Speed
Increasing the speed of the processor can improve your computer’s performance. There are two options for increasing processor speed: overclocking or upgrading.
Overclocking a processor means increasing its speed beyond what it’s designed to run stably. While overclocking can increase the processor speed, the increase is often not very significant, resulting in maybe a 10% or 20% speed increase at most. Furthermore, the processor itself must be capable of being overclocked. You would need to find the specifications for the processor in your computer to determine if it can be overclocked. An overclocked processor generates more heat, thus requiring a more powerful heat sink and fan to pull the excess heat away from the processor.
A safer alternative to overclocking is upgrading the processor in your computer. You would need to get the specifications for your motherboard to determine what type of newer processor may be used in it. You can then install the new processor in place of the existing processor.
Fix : Update Your Drivers
If some of your drivers are too old to provide the necessary functions, your laptop may slow down. This is when you need to update your drivers.
There are two ways you can get the right drivers for your laptop: manually or automatically.
Manual driver update You can update your driversvia Device Manager. Install any available updates as Device Manager suggests, and restart your laptop to test the issue.
Automatic driver update If you dont have the time, patience, or computer skills to update your drivers manually, you can, instead, do it automatically with;Driver Easy. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers that need to be updated, and your Windows version, then it will download and install them correctly:
1);;and install Driver Easy.
2) Run Driver Easy and click the;Scan Now;button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.
3) Click the;Update;button next to the flagged drivers to automatically download the correct version of the drivers, then you can manually install them . For example, I want to update my graphics driver and network adapter drivers, simply click Update and follow the instructions.
Or click;Update All;to automatically download and install the correct version of;all;the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system.

Solution 8 Adjust The Size Of Virtual Memory

Now, here is the tutorial.

2. In the Advanced tab, click Settings under Performance section.
3. Switch to Advanced tab, click Change under Virtual memory;section.

Fragmented Files Are Slowing Down Your Laptop
Whenever you create, delete, or edit a file on your computer, some of that data becomes fragmented. That means pieces of files are stored in various parts of your hard drive. Over time, this can cause your laptop to slow down because your drive has to jump around to find each piece of data.
In order to consolidate and organize the data on your drives, you can defragment your computer. And, while Windows 10 automatically defragments files once a week, you can also do this manually any time you want to.
The fix: To defrag a drive, click the magnifying glass icon in the bottom-left corner of your screen. Then type Defrag in the search bar and click Open. In the pop-up window, click Analyze to check how much space is taken up by fragmented files on your hard drive.
If there are lots of fragmented files, click Optimize. Finally, wait for the drive to reach 0% fragmented before you start using programs or opening files again.
However, you should only defrag your drive if it is labeled as a hard disk drive under Media type. If you see that your drive is labeled as a solid-state drive, defragging it can actually wear down your drive more.
If you want to know more about how to defrag a hard drive on your Windows 10 computer, check out our step-by-step guide here.

If You Are Using A New Hp Laptop
Step 1: Wait until Windows 10 Update is Complete
Most new HP notebooks come pre-installed with Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. When Windows 10 is setting up the initial update, your laptop will take a bit longer to boot up. And there doesnt seem to be an effective way to get around with this yet.
Windows 10 periodically checks for updates so you dont have to. When an update is available, its automatically downloaded and installed, keeping your device up to date with the latest features.
Step 2: Remove Auto-Run Programs or Services
Dont be surprised! All new PCs are pre-loaded with bloatware, in other words, programs that have been installed by default. However, most likely you will never need them.
Even worse, some programs sneak into the startup list and run automatically when your HP boots up.
According to this finding from ComputerWorld on how much bloatware can slow down a PC, it says:
Computers that are free of third-party softwareon average, start up 104% faster, shut down 35% faster and have 28 minutes more battery life than the same laptops with bloatware.
How to fix that? There are a lot of manual fixes out there, but they either require time or technical skills to implement properly. If you are a computer person, youll be able to sort that out on your own. If you are new to computer, I recommend using CleanMyPC to handle them for you.
Furthermore, you can use the program to uninstall the bloatware in batch, saving time doing so one by one.
Malfunctioning Parts Warranty Claim Or Return Your Laptop
It is not always software, your OS or viruses that slow down your laptop. A malfunctioning component may very well be the reason why your machine is performing poorly. Its not unusual for mass produced produced laptops to have hardware defects from the get-go, so you need to be a bit more cautious when purchasing laptops that are cheap and sold in bulk quantities.
For example, your laptop fan may not be working properly causing your processor to heat up, resulting in poor performance. When your processor becomes too hot, it switches to an emergency mode to prevent damage. The computer will run significantly slower than normal in this mode. Even a hard drive that is on the verge of failure can cause your computer to become excruciatingly slow.
If you find yourself in this position, or if nothing else works and you suspect the laptop is defective, then immediately return the machine and swap it for a new one. Most manufacturers have excellent warranties and most stores have a no questions asked 30 day return policy.

Old Or Failing Hardware
Computers age in dog years or perhaps double dog years. Old hardware are often unable to meet the demands of new technology. If your HP computer is running slow and its already five years old, the age is probably the bottleneck.
How to Fix It: Upgrade Hardware Components
Before you go trade or resell your old HP, consider hardware upgrades. Adding extra RAM will help your computer better handle intense programs, and allow you to multi-task again. This article from HP help center has everything you need to know about memory upgrades.
If youre using an old HP, replacing the hard drive with an SSD is a speed-guaranteed way to make your HP faster again because of the tremendous advantage SSDs have over HDDs. While replacing the SSD may not be practical for all HP laptops, it may be a more affordable solution than buying a new PC.
