Close Ram Eating Apps & Delete Unwanted Files
When you are using too many programs simultaneously, especially Chrome with other apps, then your laptop will lack memory and it will start lagging. Just go to the Task Manager by right-clicking on the Taskbar, and take a look at the apps hogging up on CPU power and memory.
If you see any apps that are not in use but still consuming resources, you can close them by right-clicking the application in the Processes tab and clicking on End task. This will free up your laptops resources.
After freeing up RAM, you should always free up storage on your laptop. There must be files and apps that are no longer useful, and you can delete them to free up space. Dont forget to empty the Recycle Bin either.
HDDs run at peak speed until they reach around 90% of their capacity. Try having at least 30 to 40% free space on your hard drive if you want your laptop to work faster. Both RAM and ROM must be free to ensure smoother performance.
Adjust Virtual Memory Settings
On the search tab, key in Performance and select Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows. Choose Advanced You will see the Change button in Total paging file size for all drives, select it.
Untick Automatically manage paging file size for all drives. Choose Custom Size, set both Initial and Maximum Size to the recommended file size indicated. Click Set and proceed to reboot your PC.

# 6 Free Up Hard Drive Space
Running out of disk space especially the system space is one of the most common reasons for Windows 11 slow startup. If you verify there is low disk space on Windows 11, then you need to take some measures. When it comes to free up disk space, many people intend to remove temporary files, uninstall unnecessary programs, or run Disk Cleanup.
Of course, you can do that, but a more effective way is to use a professional disk management tool like MiniTool Partition Wizard. Its Space Analyzer feature helps you check what exactly eats up your system disk and delete them permanently. If you find the C drive is full but other partitions have free space, you can extend the C partition.
Here we take the partition extending for example.
Step 1. Launch this software to enter its main interface, and then select the C partition from the disk map and click on Extend Partition from the left pane.
Step 2. Select the drive that you want to take free space from, and then drag the slider bar to occupy the free space or input the specific volume. Then click on OK.
Step 3. Click on Apply to execute the process.

Stop Onedrive From Syncing
Microsofts cloud-based OneDrive file storage, built into Windows 10, keeps files synced and up to date on all of your PCs. Its also a useful backup tool so that if your PC or its hard disk dies, you still have all your files intact, waiting for you to restore them.
Heres how to turn off OneDrive syncing temporarily, to see if that boosts system performance.
It does this by constantly syncing files between your PC and cloud storage something that can also slow down your PC. That’s why one way to speed up your PC is to stop the syncing. Before you turn it off permanently, though, youll want to check whether it is actually slowing down your PC.
To do so, right-click the OneDrive icon in the notification area on the right side of the taskbar, then click the More button at the bottom of the screen. From the popup screen that appears, click Pause syncing and select either 2 hours, 8 hours or 24 hours, depending upon how long you want it paused. During that time, gauge whether you’re seeing a noticeable speed boost.
If so, and you decide you do indeed want to turn off syncing, right-click the OneDrive icon, and from the popup, select Settings > Account. Click Unlink this PC, and then from the screen that appears, click Unlink account. When you do that, youll still be able to save your files to your local OneDrive folder, but it wont sync with the cloud.
Upgrade Your Laptops Hard Drive

It can speed up your HP laptop in all aspects, whether in terms of startup speed or performance. Fortunately, the upgrade process is not complicated. Disabling The Power Saver Feature
The Power Saver feature can cause your system to run slower than usual. This is especially the case with laptops and nd goes often without people noticing. Laptop manufacturers often have the default settings set to use as little power as possible to conserve battery time. There is something to be said for that, of course. But when you simply run your laptop on power from the wall outlet, these energy-saving measures will only slow down your machine.
You can quickly see if this could be the case with your laptop by:
- Navigating to Settings
- Go to System
- Now go to the Power and Sleep section .
- Then to Power plans via the link Additional power settings.
Amount Of Visitors On A Site
A server and website can only handle so many users at once. If hundreds, thousands, or millions of people are trying to visit the site at the same time, that page will be slower and may not even respond or load.
If a significant event is occurring around the world, it may cause speed-related issues. During the tragic events of September 11, 2001, news sites were so overwhelmed with visitors that they would take several minutes to load or not load at all.

Computer Is Slow At Start Up Takes Too Long To Boot Up
Recently a friend of mine asked us to help her out with slow start up of her computer. It takes too long to boot the computer. It was very slow even after it boots. Though the computer had a decent hardware configuration.
This problem is not un-common. The main reason behind such problems is too many start-up tasks start when windows start. Also as we install different software or applications on computer, there are some background tasks associated with some applications which start running at start-up.
How to identify the trouble?
Press Shift+Ctrl+Esc key together. This will open up windows task manager. Click on Performance tab. It looks like something as shown below in the image.
If your the PF usage as shown in the bottom left graph below is higher than the amount of your computers RAM , then it slows down your computer considerably. The performance becomes poor and slow.
In such case you need to disable some of your start-up tasks which are not essential for the system. See the steps below for steps to disable start-up tasks.
How to Fix the trouble?
Startup tasks can be easily disabled with the help of a utility by Microsoft called Autoruns. You can download Autoruns from this link. After download, unzip and run Autoruns.exe . It will load like snapshot below.
NOTE: Do not disable tasks which you are not very sure about, as they may stop some useful applications to stop from loading at start-up.
